Happy Thanksgiving!!
There is so much to be thankful for today. I’m healthy, surrounded by family, a phone call away from dear friends, eating good food (even if William ruined my vegetarian meal with ground beef). It’s the same list every year, but it is not to be taken for granted. Soon I will be surrounded by strangers that will become family, an email away from family and friends, and the food is going to be all new.
This year I’m really thankful to be a part of the first World Race Fusion team. I’m thankful for the amazing journey ahead of us and the opportunity we have been given to follow God and be molded further into His image. Because our team did not have the usual training week in October we have not meet our AIM support staff in person yet. This week they began to introduce themselves through email. First was Seth Barnes, founder of the World Race.
In his emails Seth gave the criteria they used for selecting us Fusers. They were looking for the desire to grow, self-awareness, and “how broken are you?” We are all broken in some way. Are we willing to face it? Are we willing to allow God to work in us through our brokenness? Brokenness is a blessing. Areas where we are broken are areas where God can sanctify us. Times of brokenness, wilderness times, are those times when everything is stripped away and all that is left is God.
I can think of a few seasons of brokenness. Four years ago, God allowed me to hit bottom with my finances so that I would finally learn His rules for finances and that He is my provider. Patience is definitely an area where I am broken. This summer God took His sweet time to reveal His plans so I could have a lesson in rest. (I feel this will be a lesson we revisit at some point.)
In the last month we have been walking through brokenness as a family. I have curled up emotionally and leaned on God to get through. Though I have not heard from God through this I have felt His presence and seen His hand at work. This morning I woke up to His voice for the first time. It felt so good. What He said was “Matthew 6:10.” It’s the beginning of the Lord’s Prayer.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
This verse is awesome for so many reasons. It’s a reminder that He is God and His is working out His will; I need to be willing to walk in it. We are to pray that God’s kingdom come. Next year the Fusion team will be working as an answer to that prayer. We will be bringing to the kingdom to the nations! This verse is a comfort and a confirmation to my broken heart.
I desire righteousness. Thank you Father for brokenness so you can remake me.
