A couple of days ago three of my teammates and I spent the day out. We went to Huong’s house for lunch and went shopping. On our way back to the hostel we were stopped by an English club, a group of university students who got to the park several days a week to practice their English with tourists. We ended up back at the hostel very late, but this month our schedules are guidelines as we want to be interruptable so God can use us. When we got back we learned we had a new roommate, a man from Chile had check into our dorm style room.

The others in the team had been chatting with him a bit, but when the whole team was gathered and laughing he came over to talk to all of us. I quickly became the spokesperson for our team, and he and I moved to the side so we could talk more as the team was beginning worship. Through our conversation I was able to share parts of my testimony. He was raised Catholic but has left the church and only sees that he needs to be a good person. I shared about quitting church when I was in college and only returning in October 2010. How finding a relationship with God and a church that doesn’t do “religion” brought freedom and joy. He and I were also able to connect and relate with recent death: my dad and his grandfather who was like a dad. It was a good conversation that just flowed. It was one of the easiest conversations I have had to share my faith and what God has done and is doing in my life. Our conversation ended when the team debrief began.

That is when I realized what had been happening behind me. As the man and I began talking Beth’s head began hurting. I had seen this as I was standing in front of her, but she attributed it to dehydration. When I moved away to further the conversation she laid down as she was getting dizzy as well. That is when she recognized it as a spiritual attack. Two other teammates joined her on her bed to pray over her as she prayed over me. While she prayed the pain lessened but it never completely left. God told her to get up and stomp on the Devil. She immediately stood up and began marching in place. God told her to pray over the door. She went and laid hands on the door praying protection and blocking the Enemy from crossing the threshold.

I knew none of this.

When I stopped speaking to him, the pain lessened in Beth’s head. When he left to go out that night the pain was gone. Despite saying he was going to make it an early night, he did not return until the following morning. He did not return until we were packed up and checking out. Whatever spirit(s) is following him did not want him talking to us. Did not want him seeing love, joy, or hope. Whatever spirit(s) is following him knew it could not cross the threshold and stayed away from our team.

Please continue to pray for Beth, for me, for Team Overcome, for Fusion Squad as we continue to disturb the enemy and carry God’s light.
