Quick summary of the last two weeks. HOLY BUCKETS IT’S ONLY BEEN TWO WEEKS! Wow.
August 13 was my last day at my job.
August 14-18 my siblings and I flew to Alabama to celebrate birthdays and visit our parents in their new house. It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend on the lake.
August 19-22 Ellie and I road tripped from Denver, Colorado to Boise, Idaho by way of friends in Utah. I should probably mention that Ellie is my car. She is a 1994 four door Geo Metro with a 1992 engine and transmission. She has been a huge blessing and, as one friend says, “Fueled by God.” For sure He keeps her on the road. We cruise about 60mph on the interstate. Uphill is more like 50 and down more like 65. She did 750 miles without loosing oil or air in her tires!
Along the way I was able to catch up with some friends and meet some new babies. In Logan, Utah my outdoorsy friend who has traveled and lived out of a backpack shared some tips and even made me deodorant that will double as toothpaste!
Here in Boise I was finally able to get things organized for the World Race. Posted all the blog entries that I had voice typed into my phone, wrote a support letter and my first monthly newsletter, and announced to my family and Facebook what God is up to in my life. Really came here with nothing accomplished and now feel like I’m ready to be successful. But God had to sit me down and calm me down and remind me that He is in control. (see the post from August 23).
The best parts of this weekend though were family. It has been almost three years since I was here. Kids became teenagers, babies were born, and some in-laws were added. Saturday we celebrated our next addition with a baby shower. Sunday I witnessed my great nephew’s baptism. What an honor to watch his public confession of faith and obedience to Yeshua’s leading. My nieces had me over to tour their gardens and catch up as their amazing kids shared their lives, interests, talents, and laughter.
It’s time to move on. Next stop, Star Valley, Wyoming.
