The World Race is an eleven month Christian mission trip to eleven different countries around the world. I am going to the January 2012 World Race and I so excited about the route! I am going to Philippians, China, India, Nepal, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa, Romania, Moldova, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. I am still in awe that I have been given the opportunity to go, and God has made it so evident that I am meant to be on this trip.

The World Race is an opportunity for young adults to let God wreck their ordinary and status-quo, as adventure, ministry, community and self-discovery mark the World Race experience. I will have a squad of 50 or so young adults between the ages of 21 to 35. We will have training together and travel from country to country together. From there the squad will divide up into teams of 5 to 7 in which each team will have a different ministry site in each country. Every month the ministry is going to look different as we could be doing anything; some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, teaching English in school, building relationships, playing with orphans, and praying for the sick. But every day is a day to bring God all the glory, honor, and praise!

In many ways we are going to be like the rich young ruler, as Jesus told him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Luke 18:22. We are only taking a hiking backpack for this entire trip. Each person on this trip is listening to God’s call to come, follow me, as we are giving up this American lifestyle for an entire year to follow God. Only being allowed to take a backpack is going to be a challenge for some, but it will be so liberating for others (I am oddly excited about living out a of a backpack!). If you have more questions about the World Race, I would love to talk with you! Here is the official World Race video:
