The Land of Kings

Jaipur – the land of princes and kings…
                                    Palaces and castles….
                                         Lakes and deserts…
                                              Camels and elephants…

It's is crazy the diversity within this one country.  The sights, the sounds, the smells.  Ohhhh how I love Jaipur (in comparison to Calcutta).  Let me share with you a few things about Jaipur…

Imagine camels pulling a cart instead of horses or cows.
-Camels just chillin on the side of the road throughout the city.

Imagine most of the women having their heads or entire faces covered.
-This is a different kind if covering than other places: more of a desert, exotic covering

Imagine huge buildings and palaces spread out through the city.

Imagine a road without trash (well there will always be some trash… Just way less)…
-literally in Calcutta anywhere and everywhere was a trash can: all the trash from the kitchen and bathroom was simply taken outside and dumped on the ground. We were even instructed to throw it away (on the ground) even though it went against  everything we learned…

Imagine not feeling like you are going to die every time you get into a car.
-ohhhh so nice. There are lanes and lights and blinkers

Imagine only cars and motorcycles on the road – not people, bikes, and animals.

Imagine being normal – no more celebrity status – no one stares, surrounds, or grabs

Imagine eating at 8am, 1pm, and 7pm… Such normal hours.
(not 7am, 4pm, and 11pm which is what we did in Mumbai and Calcutta)

Imagine cereals and coffee… Soups and non spicy foods…. Pizza and Sandwiches… And of course still rice but smaller servings (praise Jesus)
(not ridiculously spicy curry, fish and a butt load of rice)

Imagine toilet paper in the bathroom

Imagine an incredible host (from the United States) who understands us.

So why are we here for only three days?  I don't know.  But I do know that God has perfect timing.  I need this time of rest and comforts.  Especially after my time in Calcutta which was extremely challenging for me emotionally and spiritually.  I am so thankful for these three days even if we have burns everyday (which is even more exciting).  God knew I needed this 'break' from spiritual warfare.  And I am so thankful.

*Blog written on first day we arrived (Saturday night).  New blog on our BURN in Jaipur coming soon.
