God does not call the equipped, He Equips the Called!

God is so good! And I am absolutely amazed at his abiding Love and Grace. I am one of those people who do not worry, but I do plan.  I know that God will provide the money, because God has made it evident that I am meant to be on that trip.  But I know I that it is going to effort on my part in order to get all these funds raise, but I am trusting that God will provide.  When I tell people about the World Race, one of the first questions people ask is ‘how much is that going to cost you?’ which is frustrating at times that people look at the money instead of the mission.  So to answer some of your questions:

One: How much do you have to raise and by when?  Ok, let’s be honest, I am going to have to raise $15,500for this trip which is kind of overwhelming.  But I am not required to have all my money by the launch date which is a good/bad thing.  Good because that is a crazy amount of money, and bad because I personally do not want to raise money on the field.  So here are the deadlines set by the World Race people:

  • $3,500 – Due October 1, 2011 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
  • $6,500 – Due December 18, 2011 (2 weeks prior to your trip)
  • $11,000 – Due April, 1, 2012 (End of 3 months on the field)
  • $15,500 – Total Due July 1, 2012 (End of 6 months on the field)

Two: What does this money cover?  The money I raise for The World Race will cover your costs for the 11-month trip. This includes meals, lodging, air, land, and sea travel, administrative costs, set-up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs.  Some of the things I will have to cover on my own includes medical insurance, vaccinations, travel to training, travel to the start point (in the U.S.), and travel home from a major U.S. city at the end of the race, and gear.

Here is a rough estimate of how the money is broken down (But it will vary from country to country):
– Your $3.00 donation will pay for my transportation (from my housing to my ministry site for one day) $21 for one week and $93 for one month

-Your $3.75 donation will pay for my meals for one day. $26.25 for one week and $116.25 for one month

-Your $5.25 donation will pay for my lodging for one day. $36.75 for one week and $162.75 for one month

-Your $460 donation will pay for all of my personal expenses for one month.  This includes all of other important stuff like translators, ministry supplies, and toilet paper.

Three: How can you help?!? This is the exciting part! Every part of the mission field is important because God does not call everyone to go.  Instead He calls some people to give, and He calls others to pray daily for the trip.  You have the opportunity to partner with me in going on the World Race.

-If you are in a place financially and would like to partner with me then you can give a donation.  No donation is too small (for reals $5 would brighten up my day, that was $5 I didn’t have before you came around).  If you look to the left you’ll see a link that says Support Me Please.  Go ahead and click there, it’ll give you all the information you need to make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE gift.  Please note if you give online there are fees taken out of your donation for processing fees from banks and credit cards, so checks mailed to: Adventures in Missions PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4770 are ideal for larger amounts –make sure my name is on it somewhere please!

-Are you involved in a Church or a Pastor?  Would you be willing to let me come talk to your church, youth group, Sunday School, or Ladies Group about this trip and how God led me here?  If so: AWESOME!  Let’s pick a date!

-First Fundraiser coming up!!!  Ceramic Sale! April 29 and 30 at Anderson University, SC – Exciting!!!  I am selling about 100 pieces of ceramic pieces that I have made over this last semester. All my ceramics are wheel-thrown and high fired (which means bowls, plates, mugs, vases that are food safe and dishwater safe).  I will upload some pictures soon and if you are interested in purchasing some beautifully hand-made ceramics let me know.
