3..2..1.. Blast Off!!!
If you are new to my blog spot, then Welcome! And if you have been following for a while, then Thank You! Tomorrow I leave out for the World Race. Wow! The World Race is an eleven month Christian mission trip to eleven different countries around the world. My countries are:
-Dominican Republic
-Haiti
-Romania
-Moldova
-South Africa
-Mozambique
-Swaziland
-Nepal
-India
-China
-Philippians
I am so excited about each of the countries and the opportunities ahead for me and my team. There are 42 of us going my squad. We will travel from country to country together. Once in the country, we divide up into teams of 5 to 7 people. I have 6 on my team! And my team name is Agape! Each team will have a different ministry site within each country. Every month the ministry is going to look different as we could be doing anything; some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, teaching English in school, building relationships, playing with orphans, and praying for the sick. But every day is a day to bring God all the glory, honor, and praise!
I can’t believe it’s finally here. I have been preparing for it for so 7 months, but never really imagined the day that I would actually leave. This is crazy! I can only take a hiking backpack for the 11 months. I have packed and repacked. Organized and downsized… it now weighs 42 lbs… Hope I don’t fall over. Jk. In many ways we are going to be like the rich young ruler, as Jesus told him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Luke 18:22. Each person on this trip is listening to God’s call to come, follow me, as we are giving up everything to live out of a backpack an entire year.
God continues to amaze me with His provisions. Over the last 2 days, my funds for this trip have come in! WOW! God is good!!! I have now raised $12,611 and I have $3,000 in pledges over the year 2012. The cost of this trip is $15,500. I will give God all the credit and honor for providing this money. I am now officially Fully Funded with my pledges!!!
My first country is the Dominican Republic. My team will be in Laguna, DR. Our ministry is working with a local church, children’s ministry, evangelism, and small service projects. My contact is a young husband and wife, and the wife is expecting a baby in January (while we are there!) Pray for the community that we will be in, for the church that we are partnering with, and pray for a hand of protection over the wife and the new baby!
I am thankful. Thankful for family and friends who love me. Thankful for this opportunity. Thankful for the seeds that will be planted and harvested through this trip. I am soooo thankful.
