On Monday morning I said goodbye to all that I know, and boarded a plane to go to a place with nothing that is familiar to me. When I left my home in Nashville Tennessee just a tiny light peaked over the horizon reminding me that I was up way before I am on a normal day. This further reminded me that the next 11 months of my life are not going to be filled with normal days. When I stepped on that first plane flight from Nashville to Chicago, and then from Chicago to DC I gave up normal by the world's standards. I threw off my comfort and stepped into the uncomfortable.
I started my race. However, I should not attach my or mine to it at all because it's not really mine at all, but instead my heavenly Father's design set into motion before I was even born. It's like the Lord told Jeremiah, "Before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." I was appointed and something that the World Race staff keeps speaking over us is that God equips those He calls. He does not say go and not give us the necessary tools. I am equipped and I am ready!!!!
Another large truth God placed on my heart came in the form of a vision yesterday during worship. I saw a large mountain peak set before me in the distance. In the vision I found myself trying to reach the top of this mountain. God revealed to me that before I arrived in DC that was my mentality. I ran after a peak and so badly wanted to reach it's climax. In the process I just exhausted myself. He spoke to me and said that there is no peak with your relationship with me. There is no end to your striving until you stop striving. Striving gets me no where. The main word coming from all this is REST! Stop striving to get to a Peak and just start settling into my presence. It is at this point that the Mountain that you desire to climb just dissolves.

I am a few days from launching out of this country for 11 months straight, and this is a hard truth that must be learned. Resting in the Father, one of if not the only familiarity I take with me, is the key.
For those of you who read this and want the details of what I have been doing I hope to write a blog about that soon, but for now it is time for rest.
