The past couple weeks God has been pushing me to
dive deeper in His love
and
STEP OUT in my faith.
It started two weeks ago at church during a sermon about spreading the Gospel.
As our pastor was sharing about being a LIGHT to our surroundings through praying, caring, and sharing His love with people, I felt a little nudge from the Lord.
“I want you to start sharing the Gospel with ONE person a week.”
……
“Really, God?”
……
“Yes.”
I don’t know why I often get nervous when it comes to preaching the Gospel to people.
Why I am sometimes afraid of approaching people.
Why their opinion or response matters to me.
Why I make excuses for myself.
It’s deceitful garbage from the devil, and I’m done with it.
We’re talking about SALVATION here!
A gift that I should be more than excited to share with as many people as I can!
Here I am, about to travel the world to share this GIFT,
yet still forget that
LIVING FOR GOD
MEANS
LIVING BEYOND OUR COMFORT ZONE.
Ever since that “challenge” from God, I have been keeping my spiritual eyes open and alert to see who God wants me to share the Gospel with, whether a friend or stranger. I’ve had a couple interesting experiences so far… here’s one of them.
Last week, I was doing several errands and headed to Starbucks to have a quiet time with God.
As I was nearing towards a thrift store, Savers, I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to go there.
As random as it seemed, I could not ignore the heavy feeling He was stirring inside of me!
So I went.
I entered the store, browsing around…. not quite sure why I was there.
I walked to the front end of the store and looked at one of the cashiers.
And then the lights turned on, my mission crystal clear.
“That girl. I want you to talk to her,” God told me…
Gulp.
Okay, let’s do this.
I meandored for a few minutes, waiting for God to tell me what to say to this cashier, to give me some direction….
Silence….
So, I left.
I didn’t talk to her.
I made excuses about it. I justified the situation and reasoned with God that I’d go back another day.
I arrived at Starbucks, ordered my drink, and eyed for a spot to sit down and relax.
When I received my peppermint mocha, the nudge of the Holy Spirit returned.
“Go back to Savers and give this girl your drink.”
“Seriously, God??”
There was no more wrestling with Him. I was finally ready to cooperate. I got back in my car with this drink, drove back to Savers, waited in line, and delivered this gift to her. Her name was Melissa.
The look on her face as priceless.
She could not believe a stranger would go out of her way to bless her with a drink!
I told her that Jesus loves her.
That He views her as a beautiful daugher.
And I know that by a small act of obedience,
This planted a HUGE seed in her heart.
You never know what God’s methods are to draw people to His heart.
Even through something as little as a Starbucks drink.
