God’s heart is in HAITI…

In a bright smile from a Haitian child as she jumps into my arms…

In the women walking in the streets with massive buckets on their heads…

In the children pointing at you anywhere you go, repeatedly shouting. “YOU!”

In the faithful construction workers as they haul endless amounts of concrete daily… some of the hardest workers I have ever seen.

In the sound of hearing my name called by my little buddy, Jimmy, every time I enter the construction site.

In the beautiful ocean and mountains, a constant reminder of God’s glorious creation.

In the Haitian market, where motion is constant as people buy and sell their goods.

In the Haitian church service, where Haitians are packed on the stage, singing out their hearts to Jesus with lively keyboards, trumpets, and drums in the background.

His heart is constantly beating. His affection is constantly swelling more and more for the Haitian people. Though Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the Western hemisphere, God has called them to receive their inheritance of royalty. Their understanding that once they receive God’s love and accept Jesus’ gift of salvation, they are children of God, co-heirs with Christ, sons and daughters of the King.

I have seen this already taking place in the church of Mission of Hope International. The Haitian believers in this community are so dedicated to the Lord. They always wear their best to the weekly services, probably one of the only outfits they own. They raise their hands, eyes closed, and are in intimate communion with their Heavenly Father. They get it. They understand what it means to live under His grace, to receive their Heavenly Father’s love, and to reach out to others with it.

This is my prayer as I leave this nation in 3 days. That our ministry work, our intercession, or conversations, and our relationships formed will have left an imprint of His heart on the Haitians. That God will continue to send His workers to Haiti, to partner with the many ministries formed here to further His kingdom and shed light to His glory. That His love will deepen in this nation, amidst the chaos and corruption of the government. That He will reign over each corner of Haiti, drawing people to Himself and transforming this nation to His likeness!
