DRIVER'S  S E A T

Imagine a little boy eagerly sitting on his dad’s lap in the driver’s seat to experience his first drive ever- granted, in an empty parking lot. As he excitedly grips the steering wheel and maneuvers the vehicle, he is under the impression that the car is in his control. Little does he know, however, that without his dad pressing on the gas and break pedals, he can go nowhere; his father is the one in ultimate power of the car, directing him where to go.

God recently gave me this illustration to teach me a few things-

                   1. God is in control-

We often think that we’re the ones driving the vehicle, taking full charge of our lives without allowing the Lord to direct our steps. How often do we stop to listen to His voice and submit to His ways? What areas in our lives have we been gripping onto instead of fully surrendering to God, asking Him to remove our pride or other sins and letting Him daily take charge of our circumstances?

         2. Let HIM direct your steps and daily remove SIN

Proverbs 16: 9 says, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

As we walk with the Lord and follow Him daily, it is imperative to be in constant recognition of our sinful nature and live by His light. Every day I have moments where my flesh fights against obeying the Lord- sin can be so appetizing yet deceiving, leading to ultimate destruction. It is vital in our faith to live in the LIGHT, as 1 John 1:5-10 talks about living in the light and confessing our sins to one another. I am so thankful that God looks beyond our sin and daily lavishes His grace on us (Eph. 1:7) so that we may live purely and walk in full submission to our Savior!

My prayer is that God will continue to remove the sin in my life as I abide in Him each day. I hope that reading this will encourage all of us to recognize His power and authority over our lives and the importance of submission to Him, walking constantly in His light and resisting sin to dominate our lives.

…so just as the little boy is letting his dad guide the vehicle,

will you let your Father take control of yours today?
