Training camp AHHHHH! eklrnlwe?nfdlw.an efln we;knqwekf lwkef ! (For those of you who don't know I just hit my keyboard a thousand times)
Alright, I survived. I'm getting choked up talking about it tho. (Hence why my blog is a month late)
Lets start with the basics….
Pulling up to "Tent City" was a bit of a rush my head was spinning before I even got out of the car. Once I put my feet on the Georgia Red soil it became 'that much more' real. I blog stalked to the point where I thought I knew everything (which I don't recommend) despite ALL the alum advice I still over-packed! Carrying all that weight on your shoulders isn't worth the extra outfit and pair of shoes that you wont even wear. The food at camp was awesome, fresh fruit and hot breakfasts, a filling lunch, and a side dish and dessert with dinner. JUST KIDDING but, need-not worry you do get 3 unsatisfying small-portioned meals a day. If fish-head soup is your cup of tea then you might not be in as much shock as I was. I thought I would be methodical and wake up early (5am) to shower and put on my makeup, that was so short-lived! Its hard to get off a 32 seat bus with 65 people crammed inside. Once I started giving all control over to God I realized I was having the time of my life! I made life-long friends in only a day and then we got to spend all week together. I felt more connected to God then I ever had in my whole life, and I even had become acquainted with the Holy Spirit.
You will have a great time, you will cry, you will laugh, you will dance and you will worship. Lose your expectations, your pride, your hygiene your baggage. These 8 days will feel short, and then long, and then really short. I promise you wont want to leave and you're going to be counting the days til launch. One of the best advice I got from someone on my squad who said "finish well"! Don't go on the world race to run away from the world, go to run into the world, with open arms and an open heart.
