This week our ministry was focused on human trafficking. We teamed up with Blanca Rosa. She is a lady here at the YWAM base we are staying at. She has a passionate heart for victims of human trafficking, and wants to bring more awareness to the people of Colombia.
We first went to a small town on the beach called La Boquilla where we did door to door ministry. We spoke with women about God’s love for them, and we prayed over their homes. Abuse is a very common thing in this town, and the small church there works very hard to bring hope and light to these victims.
The second day we went to old city. Which is a popular area for tourism. We brought posters and free coffee to pass out. Three of our girls dressed in all black, tied their hands together, and tied cloths around their mouths. This represented the victims of human trafficking.
We stood there for a couple hours while people came up to us asking questions. We were able to share the devastating trafficking statistics with them. One statistic that always sticks with me is that there are more human slaves in the world today than ever before in history.
This topic will be something our squad will be faced with a lot on the race. The only way to restore and bring hope is through Jesus. Pray for us as we share Jesus with these women and children.
Below is a video about the demonstration our team put on to raise awareness.
