So, it’s February! That means that I am currently six months away from leaving my bed, my cute dog, Marilyn, my friends, and my family. My thoughts and feelings are kind of all over the place, and sometimes it gets overwhelming, but God is already working so much in my heart. Since I was accepted, I have already experienced so much growth. It’s been really amazing.
The purpose of this trip, the purpose of my life, is for people to see Jesus—for people to experience God’s love. Recently my main focus has been fundraising, and it is really easy to worry about how much money I still need. However, God has been showing me that if His name is being shared through fundraising events and simply by my trip being shared, then His purpose is being fulfilled. There is ministry on the way to ministry, and I don’t want to miss it.
Already, I have been so blessed and I love seeing God move. Being supported by my community and having them share in this experience is awesome.
Here are some of the things that have already been happening during my fundraising efforts:
The soup swap!
My friend, Rachel Kramer, and my mom helped put this together. It was such a fun event. Rachel manages a culinary school in Glendale, called The Glendalia, and if you haven’t been there, you need to check it out. There is nothing like food to bring people together. Everyone who came got to get their hands dirty by whipping up one of our five soups. They made Hearty Winter Vegetable, Butternut Squash with Roasted Apple, Cream of Asparagus, Roasted Chicken Tortilla, and Classic Minestrone. Everyone did a fantastic job making the soups. All the benefits went to my trip and it was so encouraging to see how excited people were to hear about the missions. This event was so successful we will be having another one in March!!
This picture is my table setup at my home church, Landmark. Landmark has really become a home, and their love and support is such a testament of Jesus. All of the artwork is handmade by yours truly. I plan to make lots more to raise funds for the trip. I know that God gifted me in the arts, and it is very fulfilling to use those talents to glorify Him. If you would like to support me through buying my art, I would love to make you something!
