Divorce is sad and rips families apart all around the world, but in Malawi this issue goes as far as creating orphans.
I’ve already told you the story of Rose and Franklin, but did you realize in the story that their parents weren’t dead. Rose and Franklin’s situation where they live completely on their own was the casualty of a divorced couple.
“I hate divorce,” says the GOD of Israel. GOD -of-the-Angel-Armies says, “I hate the violent dismembering of the ‘one flesh’ of marriage.” So watch yourselves. Don’t let your guard down. Don’t cheat.”

Not only does the “dismemberment” of marriage affect the couple, but also their children.
As I searched on the web for insight on the plight of divorce in Malawi I found that there is currently not many studies with information. That’s the bad news, but the good news is that the very negative effects of divorce have now caught the attention of researchers and is being brought to the light. But on the Race, through Rose and Franklin’s story, I have seen the affects of divorce first hand. It’s a grievous sight and yet…
Still Malawians stand with peace and joy.
This is the true beauty of Malawi! This country is plagued with terrible circumstances relationally and financially yet spiritually they are blessed with meek, peaceful, and joyful spirits.
Thank you Lord for your blessing over this country! Thank you for the smiles and the joy that I’ve been able to experience regardless of hardships.
