As many of you know, I have been inboxing all of my Facebook friends to ask each of you to support my World Race mission. Anyone who has done fundraising before will quickly admit that intentionally raising support funds is not easy to do.
First, you have to embrace humility. You have to relinquish your “high horse”, give up on pride and despise arrogance so that you can ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse those feelings from you and help you share your heart and why you are passionate about this cause.
Next, you have to surrender control of your progress. You cannot hold a gun to someone’s head to get them to donate the amount you choose and in the timing that you want.
Finally, you have to trust that when you are in the perfect will of God that He will provide where, when, and how He wants to provide even though you are still required to act in His will.
Now there may be some aliens in the world who believe fundraising is FUNdraising, but I’m still working to get there… The point is, anyone who is fundraising is doing it for a purpose and laying aside all of their self to achieve a goal.
As I was contacting people to ask them to support this mission, I had one person reply with a lot of adverse feelings. I must say it was taken aback and unsure to how to react, but this was an opportunity through my FUNdraising to Love. The conversation went like this…
Hey Friend! Have you seen the posts about my coming mission trip to 11 countries over 11 months? I will have the opportunity to love on orphan babies, build ministry in new areas of the continent, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people whom have never heard of Him. Would you be interested in joining me on this journey by donating to my trip?
I in no way would like to take part in contributing to spreading the gospel. .. Sorry, but that book has caused enough damage as it is!
Wow, I’m sorry to hear that. And I’m sure you aren’t the only person who feels that way. All I can say is that it has changed my life, that God has changed my life… In a good way. But thank you for replying! I hope you have an awesome day!
Actually yes, and it’s quite sad to know that you have such a cultural name, but yet are desiring to spread more of the religious dogma that raped and murdered half the world. .. including the very place your name and people come from
I do, in fact admire your steadfast focus on pursuing your dreams Rashidat, but I’d rather you not continue to spread more religious dogma
Instead, how about you share with the world your personal journey. … inspiring people to aim higher, to never doubt themselves, and to only acknowledge the limits that they themselves set… no Jesus needed, Lol
This conversation was interesting to say the least, but as I said above, I’m sure he’s not the only one that feels this way. And it saddens me, but when you look at history and some of the things that have happened, especially things that were terrible yet, WRONGLY justified by the Bible, I can understand where some of you are coming from…
But as I come to know Jesus closer and closer in relationship, I have learned a deeper understanding of what it means to be Christian. The essence of this word is to be Christ-Like. So what does it mean to be Christ-Like? Well here enters the beauty of the Bible! Four people, Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, documented the historical events that happened as they spent time with Jesus. They inadvertently corroborate each other’s stories which validate the truth in each and every one of their statements.
And from that truth I can guarantee, Jesus…
•Most definitely did NOT, despite His culturally Jewish name, spread religious dogma. [That was the Pharisees and the Sadducees, just in case you missed that in the Bible] Jesus was love wherever He went and especially loved the people that no one wanted to love.
•Did not commission any person to rape, murder, enslave, or enact any other injustice to the people of the world. He came to be a light in the dark places. I know that a light can be blinding when a person has been in the dark for so long, but when your eyes adjust you will see things you have never seen before and feel a warmth that you will never want to relinquish.
•Did not walk around the earth condemning everyone to the pits of Hell for their sins. Instead, He gave the ability to chose the light over the darkness. And if you stepped out on faith and chose the light, He welcomes us with open arms ready to love, affirm, heal, and walk with us, plus so much more, throughout our lives.
•Did not argue with those who were not interested in His message. Paul said it best and I paraphrase “give your message and share Love. And if it’s well received, make home with those people and bless them. If not, shake the dust from your feet, shrug your shoulders, and keep it moving!” Jesus knew that not everyone would accept Him. In fact, He knew that most wouldn’t accept Him, but He loved all who came to Him.
I tell you this not from any documentation, but from experience. This is how good Jesus has been to me! So a lot of people have asked, “what will you DO when you get over there… what will ‘ministry’ look like”?
We will walk, talk, look, and love like Jesus in the way He has done for each of us.
I’ve started what I’m going to call the “Wherever you Go… Love…” Campaign. I hope that you will join this campaign and mission by buying a t-shirt, wearing it, and most importantly, that you love wherever you go! You can order a tshirt at
