During our orientation when we arrived in Thailand our ministry host, Pi Emmi, challenged us to be present in our ministry.
“You just came from Cambodia right? When you were in Cambodia, you gave all your thoughts, time and energy to Cambodia. Forget about Cambodia now! Your next month is in Malaysia. It will be Christmas time, right? Forget about Malaysia! You are in Thailand now. While you are in Thailand, forget about everything else. Give all your thoughts, time and energy to Thailand. And when you leave, forget about us too.
But while you are here, I ask you to make a goal. Do not try to evangelize everyone. There are a lot of people who are not interested in hearing about Christ. Don’t worry about the many. Spend your time trying to Find That One who is willing and open. Make that one person your goal. If you can do that, you will be very successful in ministry here in Thailand.”
Duan is her name. (Ashlyn, me, Duan, Jitthe)

The day after Pi Emmi said this to us I was riding on a bicycle to Lighthouse when she spoke out to me in English…
“I like your (hand movement to her ears), I like your (hand movement to her ears)!”
“My earrings? Thank you!”
If you have read any of my blooper posts, you know that I am NOT an accomplished bike rider. Therefore, I couldn’t stop to talk to her. We made it to Lighthouse for Bliz to pick up the couple things she needed for the day and then we headed back the way we came. I told Bliz and Ashlyn “I’m going to find that lady on the way back since she was selling at her booth and give her my earrings”. The girls smiled and supported my effort. I couldn’t remember where on the bike ride she was, but they were patient at every one of the 5 stops that were not actually Duan’s booth.
Finally we found her!
She saw me as I parked my bike and jetted across the street to her. As we walked close to speak with each other, I took the earrings off and gave them to her. She smiled bashfully and accepted them with a hug. I told her I would come back to visit soon.
I smiled as I walked back to my bike.
“I think I’ve found my one.”
Sometimes the idea of spreading the Gospel to all nations can be overwhelming. “How can I save all those people? How can I reach my family? How can I reach my friends? And to take it further God expects me to take His gospel to all nations? How can I do all that?”
First, I cannot save anyone. Only Jesus can be the savior.
Two, sharing the Gospel is a matter of sowing and reaping. Our job is plant the seeds, God will water the harvest, and will direct someone in the Body of Christ to reap when the time is right.
Third, Love has a ripple effect. If we concentrate on loving one, that person will concentrate on loving the next, and before we know it His love will exponentially be shown around the world.
Find Your One.
