I recently posted this email correspondence on Facebook:

As Bashia has explained, the only thing that has linked us together is God himself, but in this short period of time we have both been blessed by the connection that He has orchestrated between us. The correspondence between us has been both beautiful, inspiring and most definitely encouraging! I hope that as you read our correspondences below that you are inspired, as we each have been, to step out on faith, to create community, and to give. You do not necessarily have to give to this cause and not neccessarily money, but to give from your heart because when we bless others God blesses us!

Hi Bashia:
I lifted your prayer request this morning and I will continue to keep you lifted in my prayers. I’d love to here about how you decided to move to Morocco! What prompted that decision? Will you have a blog?

Hi Rashidat:
Thank you for your prayers! I will most definitely keep you in prayer about your fundraising and while you’re on the trip. I am a Peace Corps Master’s International Student (PCMI) at the University of Miami. When I applied for the Peace Corps, I put that I was willing to serve anywhere so long as I was working in the Youth Development sector, and I was assigned to Morocco. I am so excited about it! I always knew that I wanted long-term international experience, and many of my close family friends did the Peace Corps so it was always on my radar. Then I found my Master’s program and found out that they had a PCMI track and I was sold! I will be launching a blog later this summer to chronicle my time abroad and a few of my other personal interests and goals. I will definitely share the link with you once it’s launched, if you would like.

Can I just say that I am beyond inspired by you and this endeavor that you are boldly taking on. A woman at my home church back in Ohio, did the World Race and I was moved by the stories she shared and the testimonies she gained. Especially because she was several years older than the others in her group. I don’t want to assume that this adventure of yours is about race because from your blogs I can tell that it’s totally a God thing for you. Overall it encourages my heart when I see women of color taking huge leaps of faith and women who are deemed “older” doing the same thing. Most of my adult life I have been a few steps behind, I’m usually 5+ years older than my peers and I often feel the pressures of society telling me what milestones I should have reached at this point in my life. God has been so faithful at re-writing that narrative in my mind and allowing me to encourage others who may feel the way that I feel. So again, I just want to say kudos to you and all that you are doing! I just get really excited when people make big changes and follow God into the deep end of the water. I am beyond excited and I’m not even going on the trip.

I’m gonna stop now, because this has turned into an essay and I don’t even know you! Any who, God Bless :-))

Hey Bashia:
I wouldn’t call this an essay, but since you used that term I want to say this is the most beautiful essay ever!!! You have greatly encouraged me and just planted a seed about schooling, working with children, and international experience that I had been wondering about with God. Not to mention, it is nice to connect with someone else who realizes it is never too late, you are never too old, and the best time to follow God is exactly when He tells you to go. I’m so blessed to walk along side you on this journey!

OUR GOD IS SOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
