On November 4th V-Squad fasted for 24hrs to really press into God about our team finances. I don't quite know where I stand on fasting, but I do know I support our squad and, if we were doing something to be on one accord and spend purposeful time with God, I was down!
So I went through the day and everything was straight. I had a few moments where I considered eating, but a teammate always texted or commented on the blog just in time ! Fast forward to 11:02pm. I felt the urge to sit down and spend some quiet time with God. I specifically wanted Scripture. There's only been one other time where I outright asked God to guide me through Scripture and it was powerful. So was this time!
This is what God showed me-
- 2 Cor 8:13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.
- Luke 5:11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
- Luke 11:11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?
- Matt 11:11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
- John 11:11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”
(At this point I decided I knew what God was doing. He was showing me 11:11. So I took it upon myself to start looking at this verse in all the books. They started not lining up. Then I remember this was a God-guided study so I fell back and started listening again) Next Scripture:
- 1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. (haaaay Vanessa!)
- 1 Pet 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
- Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
- Eph 1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will
- Job 11: 13-19
13 “If you would prepare your heart,
And stretch out your hands toward Him;
14 If iniquity were in your hand, and you put it far away,
And would not let wickedness dwell in your tents;
15 Then surely you could lift up your face without spot;
Yes, you could be steadfast, and not fear;
16 Because you would forget your misery,
And remember it as waters that have passed away,
17 And your life would be brighter than noonday.
Though you were dark, you would be like the morning.
18 And you would be secure, because there is hope;
Yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety.
19 You would also lie down, and no one would make you afraid;
Yes, many would court your favor.
Summary:
We want everyone to be free and equal. So we're
leaving the world we've known behind and following God. We know He's provided for us. Regardless of our shortcomings, our positions, our fears, etc. God's got us because we belong to Him. We shall heal in Jesus name. (haaay Jeremy!) As we visit these countries we will not fall prey to the devil's temptations. We will have each other's back at all times and allow the strength of our communal love to overcome all. In addition to supporting one another we will each fight against the devil's lies and tricks with the tools God has given us- truth, righteousness, a readiness guided by peace, faith, salvation and the Holy Spirit. We're all here for a reason; to fulfill a divine purpose. God has already planned this journey for His glory. This is what we will share with the broken, the hurt, the sick, the impoverished, the abusers, the exploiters…: Job 11:13-19
