Hola Amigos! This month ministry has been a wide variety of outreach. Each day has been something new and most days we don’t know what we’re doing till an hour or so before (if we’re lucky
). While this has been a bit of a struggle for me and my preference to have a plan and be prepared, God has been moving in mighty ways!
This month we are partnering with an organization called, Youth with a Mission (YWAM). Their mission is to know God and make Him known. The base in Mendoza, Argentina has many outreaches. They have a ropes course that is open to the community and teaches people how to push past their limits and work together. It is a unique and fun opportunity to share the gospel. They also have a sports outreach on campus and in the community. They are in the process of constructing a Day Center, which will be used as a safe place for people in the community. This center will provide bible studies, zumba and fun classes, counseling, fellowship, and skills training.
On the YWAM campus our squad has assisted in the ropes course, sports ministry, campus maintenance, serving in the kitchen, and green-house maintenance. We helped refurbish a cottage that the people in missionary school reside during their Discipleship Training School.
In the community we have interceded on behalf of the community, construction/cleaning Day Center, Women’s prison ministry, prayer walks, evangelism in the neighborhoods, visiting children in the hospitals, and partnered with local churches.
During this month God spoke to me through this verse.
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love.”
He is showing me to imitate Him in all things. No matter the task or its significance, do it to the best of my ability with the motive to love others. So while washing dishes for 70 people, raking leaves, or cleaning the bathrooms…I have been reminded to serve my community the way Jesus served us. He’s also reminding me to keep my identity rooted in Him. I am a child of God. I am loved by God. I have the ability to live a life of love. I’ve also been able to apply this verse to those around me. Community living has its rewards and challenges. But being reminded to view others as dearly loved children of God and realizing we have the same motive, to share the gospel, is humbling and encouraging.
So I want to encourage you all to continue to imitate God. Continue to respond and reach out to others in love. Continue to believe that you are dearly and unconditionally loved by our perfectly holy Heavenly Father. I pray this week you encounter God in new and incredible ways. I pray you are reminded how valuable and loved you are. I pray we are able to serve others in love as our Father loves us. I pray for perseverance and unity in our communities. God bless you all! Amen.
