Sometimes when we ask to be under His will it doesn’t always come in the form of a pretty wrapped present with a red ribbon on top like we envision. Sometimes the exact gift we asked for comes in a soggy dirty box that doesn’t look appealing on the outside. However, once we get over the appearance and really open it, it’s exactly what we asked for. Unfortunately, many of us miss out on these presents due to the outward appearance. But I’m a personal witness of asking for God to blow my mind (envisioning it to be full of miracles and wonders internally and externally) and he breaks me to rebuild instead.
Upon arriving to Vietnam my prayer was that He shows me how to love like Jesus Christ did when He walked this earth. And that month in Vietnam was by far the hardest time I’ve went through in a long time due to the discrimination of my skin color at times. There was a moment I cried looking at myself in the mirror having to decree God’s Word over my life, “I am made in God’s image. And He does love me for me.” Over and over again until I truly believed it. There was a specific time I will never forget where I had no choice but to get on my knees and pray that my identity be so grounded in Him that no man or woman can alter it. Throughout all of this He taught me no matter how people treat me, to show them the joy and love of Jesus Christ. I gave them that kool aid smile when they stared and laughed, “Imma give y’all something to stare at. While y’all staring a little too hard y’all gonna get a glimpse of Christ!!” Straight like that. All of this is what I prayed for. When Jesus got persecuted and insulted, He still chose to love them. Now that’s love. “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” -Matthew 5:44
Throughout all of this, I really saw the importance of focusing on the people that do appreciate you and love you for who you are. My team and the Vietnamese friends I made were there for me even when my mind wasn’t. Shout out to them!

Always remember this:
Your skin you are in is beautiful because God made you in His image.
Your speech impediment you may have is the sound of love because God gave you a voice to speak.
Your size you are is just right because God molded you with His own hands into His image.
The season you are in right now is exactly where you need to be because there is a lesson that you need to learn. Whether it is failing or succeeding, it’s all to mold you into He has DESTINED you to be.
Never over look that present that appears to be ugly on the outside, because inside may just be the key to unlock the next level to your destiny. So ask yourself, “did I pray for this despite it not being the way I envisioned it to be?”
God’s truly,
Chocolate Man
Keep y’all heads up and eyes fixed on Christ!
