The past three and a half day, my team and I spend our time at the World Race Semesters training camp in Georgia. On the way to the airport, I got stuck in traffic. My usual reaction is to panic, but I was surprisingly calm. I was heading to Atlanta to meet with few other people to head to a training camp. We weren’t given any information about the camp so we all were clueless. At the airport we would spot each other by flowy pants, chacos, and big backpacks.
Once we arrived, we got closed figuratively and literally with each other (we slept on the floor side by side), learned the blessing of running water and a good hot shower. The best part was worshiping the Lord and getting poured in by former racers.
I’d like to share some things I’ve learned and moments that I experienced so far.
First off, the meanings behind worship musics. Most people enjoy singing to the Lord. But sometimes we get caught up with the melody and forget to focus on the meaning. At camp, I let go of self contentiousness and allow myself to connect with God during worship and it was so good. I was teared up each time because each word hits me.
Open Space by Housefires was one of the songs that spoke to me.
Do whatever you want to do
Say whatever you want to say
Move whatever you want to move
change whatever you want to change
My heart is an open space for you to come to have your way, I’m open
Woah. Just saying those words may seem simple, but actually processing it is a whole nother level.
Jesus will do whatever He can just for me. Just because I am worthy. I will never fully understand the unconditional love, but I am thankful for the life He has given me. I get to experience the goodness in the broken world. Because the Lord is so darn good, I want to get to know Him better. I want to live a life that reflects Jesus. I want to hand the Lord all the shames of the past, the worries of the future saying, “You are so much greater than I can ever image so I will trust you with unknown. I believe you are stronger than the evil and your words hold more power than any lie. So I will trust you even in the midst of doubt. “
Some of the cool moments during camp were witnessing one of my teammates getting baptized and seeing the holy spirit move in each of us.
I am grateful for a wonderful team of girls and our leaders. They all have a big heart for the Lord that I’m excited to get to serve along side with them this next month. I cannot wait to see how He will use us in Ecuador and the experience I will be gaining over this trip.
