Hey guys! Haven’t blogged in a while, but life has been good! I’m gonna be honest, I’m a very easily distracted and forgetful person so I’m sorry it’s been so long. So many things have happened that I want to share, such as Mike and I’s trip to Bangkok. Ohhhhhhhh this is interesting. So picture this: Mike and I had to travel to Bangkok, which is about 6 hours away from our home in Chaiyaphum, to take care of some logistics for the team. Luckily, on the way there we had help from our lovely translators, Wah and Plai, with getting to the YWAM base. The next morning, however, we had to say goodbye to our friends and travel across Bangkok on our own to find the coffee shop we were supposed to meet at. We had been given directions, but they were very difficult to understand and nobody spoke english or could help us once we left, so it was quite stressful…especially when we got lost! We wandered for a bit, looking like we knew where we were going, until we came across the sky tram, which is like the best way to get around Bangkok apparently. After spending about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get tickets for this train thingy, we finally decided to just try and copy someone, which worked! We got on board and traveled to the Victory Monument, which is where we were supposed to meet. After getting off the train, we stood on the corner trying to figure out where to go next when suddendly, a random taxi rolls up with Maria and Natalie, two of our fellow squadmates, in the back seat yelling at us to get in!(I was actually quite confused until i realized who they were haha). After that, we found our coffee shop, ended up going to the mall, got yelled at by a couple of street vendors, and got some cool tattoos! We had no trouble getting back to Chaiyaphum afterwards because the bus station in Bangkok is a lot like an airport. After another 6 hour bus ride, we arrived back home. That concludes my story! A little about how I’m doing also, and I just want to be honest with everyone. I’ve been struggling a lot this week. I’ve had the worst case of homesickness, particularly for my family. I’m not used to not being able to go to my parents for advice or help with things or when not being able to hang out with my brothers when I’m feeling down. I also know that back home, my friends are fighting with one another and drifting apart, and it’s tearing me up inside because I’m not there to help make things better. They are like brothers to me…I hate to know they’re fighting…. but I know that God is bigger than this! I put my trust in him that he will carry my friends, family, and my team and I through any and all storms that come our way no matter how bad they get. As far as ministry goes, we have been spending a ton of time at schools helping out with and attending sports tournaments! The kids here are so friendly, all they want to do is hang out with us even though we can’t even talk to them. Now that the tournaments are finished, we are gonna spend some more time working on construction at the rice farm as well as back here at the house. With that being said, I would like to conclude this lovely blog post. Till next time! (:
