On my 15+ hr drive back home from training camp we were listening to this amazing CD called Campfire by Rend Collective Experiment, this made me think about the several campfires we had at training camp. Typically when you think about campfires mental pictures of smores, jokes and just having a good time (which definitely happened), but it was much more than just a place to have a good time it rapidly became an altar where we poured out our hearts.
It was a place of vulnerability, healing, encouragement and restoration. A place where all the shame, worries, secrets, pain, rejection, sin and all the negatives in our life were tossed in Gods flame to allow him to purify and restore. In one way or another God spoke to each and every one of us, these flames melted us together and friends became family.
I’m short of words to describe what God did at training camp, one thing I’m sure of none of us are the same. The flame has been rekindled, the restoration has begun and as living sacrifices we will live.
God bless!
Ray
