Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10

These words spoken by Jesus in His model of how we should pray are often spoken on several occasions in our life. Some congregations say this prayer before the start of every church service, as well as many sports teams before the start of  whatever game they are playing, but how often do we stop and really think about what we are saying. When we say “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven,” we are making a pretty big request. In order for His kingdom to come, there has to be some people to bring it. It may take everyone in the church building to get away from their seat and go out and bring the kingdom to earth. No matter how hard or uncomfortable it may be, we have been commissioned to bring this kingdom into the uttermost parts of the world.

A lot of Christians probably have this prayer memorized just like many of the praise songs we so often sing. Lately I have been looking a lot closer at the songs I am singing before I start to say them to a God who takes them pretty literally. “Where you go I go,” “all I need is you,” “take it all,” are in songs that we sing all the time, but is this really what we want to say to God? Are we ready for God to take us up on that offer? It is so important to stop and think about what we are saying before we say it.
