The last country of my World Race: Guatemala.
I had such a great time that month. My team was paired with 2 other teams. Our main ministry for the month was focused on caring for the widows. We lived in a small town called Santo Domingo Xenacoj and our host was German. German is a great man of God and a true servant to us and his community.
We would visit the widows homes to chat, pray, and help them with any cleaning they may need.
Coming to month 11 of the World Race was bitter sweet. Many of us couldn’t wait to be HOME, in our COMFORTABLE beds, and walking into HOT showers. Not to mention a list of other amenities like a washer and dryer, more clothes, and a car. But we will also be saying goodbye to our Y squad family. The people we spent 11 months with living in community together.
Together we: sang, prayed, hiked, ate, cooked, shopped, laughed, traveled, read, went to the movies… etc.
Some of us (ME) were VERY excited to say goodbye to the “buddy system”.
The buddy system means no one goes anywhere without a buddy, for safety of course. At times I am sure (for some people) it was an inconvenience and/or annoying.
I had numerous people be my “buddy” so I could get a haircut. If you followed my blog you know I kept it fresh.
Thanks to: Cathy, Justin, Sky, Sabrina L, Zach, Matt, Laura, … and I’m sure a few more.
There were some great times as well when I was someones “buddy”. If it wasn’t for that rule I may not been asked to tag along.
Here is my video for Guatemala!
I have news for what is to come next! Stay tuned!
