How was the World Race? Amazing
What was your favorite country? Swaziland (I suppose, it’s hard to choose)
What are you doing next? KINGDOM JOURNEYS!
Kingdom Journeys is another mission trip through Adventures in Missions that is available for WR alumni. It is 3 countries in 6 months (countries still to be decided by Adventures in Missions) and I leave the beginning of January. This trip is different from the Race because rather than going to some random location doing who-knows-what ministry, this trip has a specific ministry. Adventures describes Kingdom Journey’s mission this way, “Proclaiming freedom and redemption to our sisters around the world. We reach out to widows, former prostitues, the abused, abandoned, and overlooked. Our time is spent building relationships with these women and then inviting them to join us for a ‘Beauty for Ashes Retreat’ where we empower them to experience God’s restoration and hope through storytelling and community.” I would be on a team of 6-8 women for this trip (not a squad of 45 like the Race).
So why Kingdom Journeys? My heart is for the least loved, the unnoticed, and the broken. My passion is for rehabilitation, encouragement, restoration, and unconditional love. I know my calling is to get down in the pit, meet the people there, tell them how valuable they are, and pull them back up. That’s exactly what I would be doing on this trip.
So why a 6 month mission trip instead of looking for a job where I could start doing this forever? I want to have an experience where I can test it out, develop skills in this area, and learn how to do it well. I don’t technically have a lot of experience in this type of ministry and this would be an excellent opportunity for me to try it out. I hope that it will also help me have a better idea of what specific people I may want to work with. Right now the passions I have are kind of general, but maybe after this trip I’ll decide I really want to specifically work with women coming out of trafficking… or not. You may also be wondering, “What ever happened with that Pre-Art Therapy degree she spent 4 years in college to get?” Well, at these “Beauty for Ashes Retreats,” we will be doing art activities that are just like ones I learned about in my Intro to Art Therapy class in college. I have been unsure if going to graduate school to become an Art Therapist is worth pursuing for me and I feel that trying it out a little on this trip may give me a better idea on that, as well.
So, that’s what I’m doing, that’s why I’m doing it, and I hope you’ll support me! I cannot tell you how excited I was when I thought my fundraising days were over…but here I am, trying to be obediant to the Lord’s calling and asking for your generous donations once again. It doesn’t matter how much you give, even if it’s a little, I will truly be thankful and it will help. Your donations are tax-deductible, too! The total cost is $12,000.
I am to be 25% fundraised by 10 weeks prior to Launch,
50% fundraised by 6 weeks prior to Launch,
75% fundraised by Launch,
and 100% fundraised by 8 weeks on-field.
You can donate by clicking on “Support Me” either on top or on the side and be sure to indicate that it is for Kingdom Journeys.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
