One of the contacts we met in Cambodia was Roeung Dara, Director of Changing and Hoping for Lives Organization. His main ministry is to provide for the Villager’s needs, so his ministries include: English classes, teaching computer skills, vocational training, orphan care, agriculture, teaching families how to have healthy relationships with each other, and medical help. His organization is located in a small village in the Siem Reap Province. We took a tuk tuk (Cambodian taxi service, essentially a motorcycle-drawn carriage) out there and the dirt roads were so full of divots, pot holes, and craters that we were afraid the tuk tuk might brake. thankfully we had a patient and happy tuk tuk driver so it was a fun adventure. People in the town were very confused by our presence there. If teams were to stay with this organization, they would be living in tents, using bucket showers, and cooking their own food. They would get to teach English and do orphan care. Roeung Dara was a sweet man and is out there doing ministry on his own, so please pray for him. It will be interesting to see what God may have in store for a World Race team if one ends up going there! For more information, visit www.chlchanginglives.org.
My teammate Jordan made a video about our month of UH, check it out!
Unsung Hero (n.): Men and women who are dedicated to serving some of the most impoverished populations in the world, yet rarely receive recognition for their dedication and service. These givers may also live with meager conditions but give consistently from an abundance of God’s love. Their names may not be in history books, their acts unknown to the rest of the world, while unrecognized, they shake a generation and move a culture, and ultimately build the Kingdom.
