When you donate to support me, what are you paying for? What is the purpose for going on the World Race? Why should you help me travel to 11 countries in 11 months? In this blog, I’ll do my best to try and answer these questions.
Putting the World Race experience into words for others to understand is very difficult. There’s just so much learning, growth, and new experiences that happen. Most people do not get an opportunity like this. I feel so privileged to be able to take 11 months off from the routine, American life. 11 months away from what I know and who I know. 11 months away from what I’m used to and comfortable with. 11 months of being “taken” by God as I have committed to remaining single during this time. 11 months where I can leave it all behind so that I can solely focus on my relationship with God, growing closer to Him, and falling more intimately in love with Him each and every day. Before the World Race, I thought I was dong pretty good and I thought that most of my time on the Race would be spent blessing others around the World. I realize now that I have so much growing and learning I need to do and even though I might love on some people and help bring the Kingdom, I’m the one being blessed through this trip.
One of the ways I get a lot of growth on the World Race is through Team Time. Every night, my team gets together, we share how we’re doing/what we’re going through, and we give each other feedback. There are two kinds of feedback: positive and constructive. We give feedback to each other so that we can help each other become more Christ-like and become the people God intended for us to be. Positive feedback is when we see something good in someone on our team and we acknowledge it and encourage them to build on it. Constructive feedback is when we see something in a teammate that they need to work on. Don’t worry, we don’t sit around and say things like, “You know what? You really sucked today.” We, in a loving way, call each other out when we see that they are not living up to what they could be. This feedback can be difficult to hear or accept at times, but I love receiving this kind of feedback because it’s where the most growth happens.
These days I’m addressing fears and insecurities, becoming bolder, understanding my worth, learning to love others well, listening to the Spirit, trusting in God’s perfect will for my life, and trying to understand the depth at which God truly loves me. I’m finding what it really means to be free in Christ! Based off of how much I’ve grown and learned just in the past two months makes me so excited about who I will be by June, 2015.
If donating to my personal growth doesn’t interest you, know that the ministries we do while on the Race are making a difference. People are being encouraged, seeds are being planted, people are coming to church, and people are accepting Christ through the work we are doing in the places we go!
Unfortunately, this incredible growing experience isn’t free. In order to continue for the full 11 months, I need your support. I am currently at $9,740 and I need $11,000 by the end of this month. I need to be fully funded with a total of $16,252 by the end of 2014. Please prayerfully consider donating to my World Race. If you are unable to donate financially I would appreciate your partnering with me in prayer. Pray for my growth and my time on the World Race and pray that I would receive the funds I need to be able to do this.
