Sometimes when people hear I’m traveling around the world it’s easy for them to have a romantic view of what I’m doing, like it’s just going to be an adventure full of fun and rainbows.  Although I’m sure I will have amazing experiences that I will treasure for the rest of my life, it’s going to come with a lot of hardship along the way.  Here are 11 reasons I need an army of prayer warriors for me during these 11 months:

1. At some point I will most likely get sick in a place where there are no doctors

2. I’m a picky eater and what I hear from former racers, being full is a rare occurrence on the World Race

3. BUGS (bed bugs, lice, giant spiders, mosquitos, etc.)

4. no showers/few cold showers, hand washing clothes, squatty-pottys, and all the stinkiness that will go along with those things

5. The World Race make Satan pretty upset, so he’ll do what he can to sabotage us, like conflict between my squad-mates.

6. Homesickness.  I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how long 11 months really is.  Almost a year without my family, friends, and the country that’s familiar to me is going to be rough at times.

7. I’ll Never be alone. I’m seriously introverted and tend to be independent so constantly being with others is going to get to me at some point, I’m sure.

8. Safety isn’t necessarily the number one priority when doing the Lord’s work

9. Packing a weeks-worth of stuff for 11 months is a serious downsize for this blessed American and might be a hard adjustment at times.

10. I can pretty much kiss comfort goodbye.  Sleeping on random floors and being pushed to new limits are examples of that.

11. I will have to rely on God and have faith that He’ll come through much more than I have ever experienced before.  The majority of what happens on the World Race will be completely out of my control

I want to share the struggles I will encounter with all of you because I believe in the power of prayer and I need all of you to help me out by being prayer partners for me.  I am in the process of getting together a team of prayer partners.  This would be a group of people who commit to pray for me every day (ideally, but at least once a week for sure).  I would also send an e-mail of prayer request to these people every week (unless I’m in a country with limited internet access). If you’re interested in being a part of this, let me know!
