In my very first blog post, I gave an explanation of how I heard about the World Race and why I decided to apply. Looking back at it, I realize it is very vague and not too personal, so here are just a couple honest reasons why I am going on the World Race:
1. Every single person is valuable and loved by God. God has always placed this truth deep within my soul. It doesn’t matter where you come from, who your family is, what kind of things you do, or what kind of things you have already done. It doesn’t matter what you look like, weather society thinks you’re valuable or not, or any other factor that makes this truth hard to believe. I want to go to as many places as I can so I can tell/show as many people as I can that they truly matter. (Psalm 139, Matthew 10:29-32, Genesis 16:13).
2. There is a Father for the fatherless. My whole life I have wanted to adopt. I love kids and it breaks my heart to know there are so many who don’t have a loving home they can go to. I used to not want to work with orphans in fear that it would be too hard for me to bear. I’ve realized, though, that God has given me such a strong love for them that I can’t (and shouldn’t) stay away from them any longer. The World Race does a lot of orphan care, which is one of the reason I was drawn to go. Honestly, I’m already dreading the goodbyes with the children I haven’t even met yet. However, if I have the opportunity to show them the love from their Heavenly Father for just a month, than that’s what I’m going to do. (James 1:27, Isaiah 1:17, Psalm 68:5, Romans 8:15-17).
3. There is a lot of work and very few workers. The world is so full of hurting people. I have lived most of my life in a safe and comfortable bubble. Unfortunately, God does not call us to what is safe and comfortable. God needs people who are willing to roll up there sleeves, get their hands dirty, and sacrifice they’re own selfish desires. I was drawn to the World Race because I could see that they got this. I will be traveling for 11 months with all my possessions in a backpack along with a tent and sleeping bag for lodging. Having a bed and more than a weeks worth of clothes is not what is important. Spreading the Gospel is the number one goal and, frankly, the only goal that matters. (Matthew 28:19-20, Isaiah 6:8, Matthew 9:36-38).
If these things matter to you as well, know that you can help. I am going on the World Race to bring glory to God’s name across the earth. If you support me financially, your money won’t go to waste. It will be used for God’s work. By helping me go on the World Race and by praying for me you can tell people they matter and they have a Heavenly Father who loves them. By supporting me as a Racer, you can help the Kingdom of God grow in number. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
