Connaly Akiyama
A leader, a worshiper, a mentor & friend
Connaly Akiyama is the Alumni Team Leader of team Capable. She went on the WRGY last year and sacrificed another three months to come and disciple us while we are in Guatemala. Connaly leads by example and by giving us opportunities to lead ourselves. She holds us accountable and encourages us as we grow. Her dependence on the Father as her source of strength and guidance as a leader is inspirational.
Connaly is also a worship warrior. She worships through how she interacts with our ministry hosts, our leadership, and the families in our ministry. Connaly worships through prayer and intercession. She worships in her devotional time each morning as she quiets herself to hear from the Father. Connaly worships also through music and song. Connaly has an amazing voice and is also great at playing guitar. Getting to see her as she sings praises for the audience of one is such a joy.
Last, but not least, Connaly Akiyama is my mentor and someone I consider to be a friend. Connaly is there whenever any of us need to talk and process with someone. She pushes us to grow deeper in relationship with God and each other. She laughs with us and helps us to prank other alumni team leaders. But above all, Connaly truly cares for each person on team Capable. Her heart for us is so evident, and I feel truly honored to know her.
Connaly, you are a true woman of God. You are wise beyond your years and so very humble. I am so glad I get the chance to live life with you. I can’t wait to see the amazing things the Lord calls you to after Guatemala.
