I’ve spent the last 4 month in countries where Christianity isn’t the primary religion. Daily I walk around and see people giving sacrifices and worshiping other gods. Nepal is a place where every street you walk down you see temples, or religious statues or rainbow flags that represent prayers to all their gods. It’s a place with a heavy religious atmosphere. But it’s also a place where I’m constantly reminded of the glory, wonder, and vastness of our one true Creator.

The Himalayan mountains surrounding Nepal scream of God’s majesty.  They also remind me of how powerful the name of Jesus is. Just saying the name of Jesus switches the spiritual atmosphere around us. That’s something I didn’t understand until I was surrounded by so many people worshiping someone/something other than Him.

This month the Psalms have hit me in deeper ways. They remind me that our God is the one true king, the creator of the universe, and our good and faithful Shepard.

Psalm 95: 3-7

For the LORD is a great God,

And a great king above all gods.

In his hands are the depths of the earth;

The heights of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his, for he made it,

And his hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!

For he is our God,

And we are the people of his pasture,

And the sheep of his hand.

Nepal, you’ve helped me further grasp the weightiness of what Christ did on the cross. You’ve brought me to tears just looking at the glory of creation. & you’ve given me so much of a reason to celebrate just thinking about spending eternity with my Creator. My only response is to worship the Lord. Jesus, you have no rival & you have no equal.
