Boldness is a word that has resonated a lot with me the past few months. Saying yes to the World Race was a bold decision for me. But the Lord is teaching me right now that I do not have to wait until my launch date in June to live a bold life rooted in Christ. The bible actually calls us to live boldly in our faith each and every day.

Peter provided us with a perfect example of what that bold faith can look like. We find Peter in Acts 4:1-13 filled with the holy spirit, walking in that bold faith, healing the sick and calling people to salvation in the name of Jesus. At first, people were uncomfortable seeing the power of God at work in an ordinary man. The only conclusion they could reach was that this man had been with Jesus.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13.

The cool thing about Peter is that he is a lot like you and me: ordinary. He was uneducated, untrained, and had a long list of screw-ups, yet Jesus chose him anyways. Jesus knew that one day we would need to see that God could use even an ordinary fisherman in a bold way. The only way we can know Jesus in this personal way and have this kind of bold faith is to spend time with Him in prayer and in His word. The only way the world around us will know Him is if they see Jesus in and through us.

So here’s to 2019, the year I fully live into that call to bold faith. It’s the year I step boldly into things I cannot accomplish in my own strength. When everything in life seems shakable, I will know that God is not because he is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Don’t wait until the time is right to boldly love, boldly pray, and boldly share the gospel. The time is now.
