God doesn’t compare what He creates & if God doesn’t compare what He creates neither should we.
I felt the Lord really calling me to write on comparison. Not really for you [the person reading this] but for me. My collegiate soccer career ended last fall and the transition has taught me a lot about myself.
First off… not everything in life is a competition. Life is not a game where there is a winner and a loser. The goal is not to beat out the person next to you; it is actually to lift them up. If we consume ourselves with trying to be one step ahead of the people around us I think we’ll miss the unique plans the Lord has just for us.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image… Meaning your life is not supposed to look like everyone around you & that is a very good thing. The Lord equips us all with special gifts. The goal in life is to find your gift and your purpose is to give it away for God’s glory.
I graduate from college in May. Meaning many classmates and friends are applying for their dream job and interviewing with excited employers. I find myself more often than not looking at their page. I fall into the comparison trap. But if I spend too much time looking at others lives, I would have missed the plans the Lord has just for me after college. They are not to start a design career in my dream city. They are to serve.
Comparison is a liar. It steals your happiness, joy, and lunch money all at once. Find your worth and you’ll find your release from comparison.
Jesus talks a lot about comparison and He says we should only compare ourselves to Him. It’s time for me to stop comparing myself to what God has created and start comparing myself to the Creator.
