A few weeks ago we arrived in North Africa. We planned to temporarily stay in a hostel until a long term option showed up. The hostel did the trick for that week, but as a team we felt unsettled, restless & ready to be in a space that felt more “homey”. Despite our wrestling, the Lord showed up BIG time.
I want to tell you about my new friend Mauricio. He’s been traveling to experience new cultures & to learn more about himself and the world. He happened to be staying at the same little hostel as us down a windy street in Africa, coincidence – I think not. We started inviting Mauricio to do things with us and he told us very early on we were very different than other travelers he has met. He went on an excursion with us to the desert to ride camels. I got to share more of my heart with him and why I feel compelled to love other around the world the way Christ loves us. On the bus ride back from the desert, we all organically started singing worship music – lol this is no joke. Despite the 100 degree weather outside Mauricio had chills. He said he felt something special and that’s when we knew the Lord was about to do something unforgettable in his life!
The next day he came to church with us… he loved it & the day after that he came to a prayer meeting… he loved it also. His exact words after were “I’ve been trying so hard to explain faith logically but these past two days I’ve learned it’s not something you can explain – it’s something you feel in your heart.” Can you believe our God loves us so much he leaves the 99 to find the 1 lost sheep. Lauren Daigle says it best “I will send out an army to find you in the middle of the darkest night its true I will rescue you.”
Mauricio,
The Lord loves you so much he sent out an army to find you (literally lol team Unknown Heights & Vessels). If this wasn’t a divine appointment I don’t know what is. Keep seeking & knocking. The one who seeks finds and the one who knocks the door will be opened – Matthew 7:8. I know you were traveling to find yourself but what you were searching for was Jesus. He is the only one who fulfills, satisfies, & quenches us in the driest of deserts.
What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14
