Hello family, friends, strangers, fellow racers, and anyone in between!!!
Welcome to my blog! I’m so thankful that you have taken the time to learn more about all the great things God has been doing in my life. My name is Rachel Miller and this last August I turned 18, hello adulthood. Heres a couple fun facts about me to start off..
-
I am a recent graduate of Pioneer High School in Royal Center, Indiana
-
I am a total goober (really the best way to put it) and love to laugh with my equally gooberish friends
-
I am always down to kayak or hammock:)
-
I can be found dancing and singing 90% of the time – even though I am not particularly gifted in either of those areas
Senior year has come and gone so quickly and real-life decisions are coming to fruition. I am the youngest of five, have two loving parents, and I have a wonderful boyfriend with a heart of gold. I am an adventure seeker, travel enthusiast, and most of all, lover of Jesus! I am incredibly indecisive and have had no real plan of what I wanted to do after high school. I know I want to go to college, although I have had a sense telling me maybe I need to wait a year. World missions is a huge passion of mine. I have experienced the exhaustion of inner-city living in Costa Rica and lived below the poverty line in Guatemala, loving every single moment of it. I feel like our world needs a big hug and if you have never seen the anguish our fellow humans face than you could never understand the compassion this world really needs. Seeing cultures mix together, in the name of Jesus, is such a fulfilling feeling. A few years ago I met the mother of this girl who was on an 11-month missions trip traveling across 11 countries on a thing called the World Race. I thought it sounded like a cool thing but never thought that it was something I could even consider doing. I was really shy when I was younger and would not even stay the night at a friend’s house, let alone leave the country alone. Clearly, that has changed because two summers ago I went to Costa Rica solo. The World Race Gap Year participants go across three continents in nine months spreading love and being the hands and feet of Jesus. (My first blog will be a more detailed description of what the race is and how you can help!) In this last year, the Lord put it heavily on my heart that I need to take a year off and go into missions. While all of my peers are experiencing their first year of college I am going to be a missionary in some of the most unreached parts of the world. I am trusting that sometimes it is okay to take a different path than everyone else. I am so excited to have been accepted into the program and look forward to seeing the Lord work in and through me.
With such exciting things beginning to happen in my life I have been seizing every moment of my senior year and summer while it lasts. I live for weekly trips to El Arrieros, spontaneous road trips, jamming in the car, late nights with friends, binging the HGTV Channel, and reading any book by Chip and Joanna Gaines. This summer I have been staying in Florida and it has been an absolute DREAM! Wow, God blessed us with such an incredible world. Growing up in a small town community is a blessing and I am so excited to go out and explore everything else the world has to offer.
Stay tuned for future blogs and ways you can help me during this process!!
