I really didn’t expect that they would change our teams so early into the race, but as seems to be the unofficial motto of the world race “it is best to lay down your expectations”. I was really displeased to learn there would be team changes, then angry, then apathetic, and once the teams were announced I was excited. I am presently $7000 short of my total fundraising goal and am in danger of being pulled off ministry until I raise funds, so if you like my blogs please pray about supporting my mission. Without further ado I present to you team Redemption.

Andrea “Iron fist” Gosselin- Team leader
She calls herself AN-drea but I call her ON- drea and she doesn’t mind, she is one of the two new team leaders who were promoted as a result of squad leaders being chosen. She is a former member of team Glow, so I never had a chance to work with her, I believe this may have been deliberate so we would not covet having her on our team. She is fairly quiet and so in all honesty I never noticed her until Ireland. She has a strong brave heart but is secure enough in who she is to be comfortable leading quietly from the back instead of being bombastic or aggressive, she is a total Gryffindor. She is from Michigan but tans incredibly well, it is possible that she is a distant relative of Thomas Jefferson. She is easy going, encouraging and obviously very pretty.

Jenifer “powder keg” Miele – Team Analyst

Jen , also sometimes known as “soft apple Miele” or “Me-lay” (the way we all mispronounced her name for the first 3 months), is a fierce little package of amazing. Formerly of team Shofar, several members of team L’chaim were interested in drafting her to our team. She is insightful, strong and brave. She spends a lot of her time quietly observing with a half smile and a gleam of knowing in her eyes. If she was a super villain I would be most afraid of her, she is understated and brilliant. Luckily for the rest of us, she uses her powers for good, she is very domestic and has a servants heart. She is the smallest person at the house but was the first one to go down and pull water from the well (this is even hard for the boys). She is definitely a Gryffindor and has a dry sense of humor that sometimes confuses me but is very funny to anyone who thinks faster than an Apple2.

 

Jeremiah “Il Professore” Reynolds – Team logistician/ financial officer

Jer (also known as Mia Miah when his hair is its appropriate length) is a good hat. Formerly of team Shofar he was my personal preference should team L’chaim have had to be integrated. He sees the preciousness of experience and believes life is to be lived. He tries not to take himself too seriously and is usually doing something silly or off the wall for a laugh. Though he could easily be a hair clip or shopping bag model he has chosen a life of poverty and serving the Lord. He has a wicked case of the wander lust and loves to travel and be impermanent. When he isn’t making a joke he is generally quiet unless asked something. He meticulously thinks things through, sometimes to his own detriment but he is definitely a doer and it is just common wisdom that if you want to make things happen you get Jeremiah involved. He is smart enough to know that he knows nowhere close to everything but would be a total Ravenclaw.

Jessica ” the tomb raider” Sims – Team bad ass/ bombshell

Jess is tall lanky and has piercing blue eyes. Formerly of team Lovesick she stood out in her fierce protectiveness and loyalty to her team tempered with wisdom and understanding. She defiantly resembles a certain video game heroine. She would usually describe herself as a quiet reader. Full of secret talents, she sings, takes amazing pictures and runs, I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if she pulled out some crazy Chung-li moves in a street fight. Jess is definitely unaware of how truly amazingly beautiful and talented she is, she has a humbleness and humility about her that seem out of place given her model-esq good-looks and legendary nun chuck skills, she is a Gryffindor.

Jonathan “the space cowboy” Beckman – Team wingman/ hunter/ dinosaur wrangler

J. Becks also known as Beckman, is the ultimate wingman, he is solid, supportive , stoic and occasionally very funny. I am not a man but I can definitely see that Beckman is the kinda guy every guy wants as a friend. He is silent most of the time, except when correcting you , dropping mad wisdom or saying something so dryly funny that you struggle not to pee your pants. Jonathan has a quiet confidence that oozes out of his pores and is infectious to his friends and terrifying to his enemies. Jonathan is Sasha’s keeper and companion. Deeper analysis is required but Jonathan is most likely a Ravenclaw.

Sasha “the Ukrainian” Dinosaur – Team exterminator / sage

Sasha protects Jonathan while he sleeps, and eats any unfortunate bugs who find themselves in the boy’s room during the day. Sasha is a complex Ukrainian dinosaur, with complex hopes and dreams. He frequently shares during our feed backs and brings depth , insight and humor to our meetings.

Nathan “the director of fun” Salley – Squad leader/ Ladies Man

Nathan, most commonly referred to as Salley is confident and forthright in his opinions. He is insightful and bold while maintaining an amazing sense of humor. He has very sharp wit and is most certainly a Ravenclaw but has definite Gryffindor qualities. He is a creature of insurmountable charisma and because of this most women can’t seem to resist his attraction. He is a master diplomat, expertly navigating the minefield of lovesick hearts inevitably left in his wake as well as the delicate political and social issues that require the savvy and authority that only a squad leader can possess. Salley is a man’s man and could quite easily contend for the spot of “the most interesting man alive” once the guy from the Dos Equis commercials dies.
