So to fill you in on my life really quick, I finished my winter semester (most colleges call it their spring semester) and I was home last week and it was IN-CRE-DI-BLE. I don't recall having such a quality week in such a long time, it was amazing. I finished the semester strong to God be the glory and took a few days to rest and reflect before heading home and it was a great way to start the month of May. Sure I didn't go to my graduation ceremony, but I would not have traded my time at home last week for that. Throughout the week I was able to spend time with my family, met up with some of my closest friends, and was so blessed to see and speak with some of my church family. And let me tell you–I know some classy folk!
Some people are a hot mess (handful, piece of work, colorful character according to Urban Dictionary lol) and those people make the headlines and get the most attention from teachers and land million dollar contracts through reality television, but they get enough attention. Today is all about the classy folk, so let's get to it.
Now because of grad school and it's overwhelming emphasis on defining terms, I'm going to relay to you what I mean when I say "classy folk." I mean high quality, life-enhancing individuals who clearly shower in awesome sauce because they just exude awesomeness. Ok, so this is not going to make it into Merriam-Webster or even the freedictionary, but their definitions were too put together to capture my enthusiasm.
There is no way that I can possible cover all of them, so I will just highlight a few today and you'll have to hear about more in the future.
- One of the ladies from my small group. One of the most delightful people that I ever met in my entire life. When I first shared that I was going on the race, she encouraged me and told me that she knows that God is going to provide and that she and her husband would support me. After almost four months and only about $150 raised, true to her word, they gave the largest donation to date. CLASSY!
- Met up with one of my friends and during the conversation we started to talk about the World Race and she asks me where I am going first and then she opens her planner and she has pinpointed and connected all the countries that I am going to because she is excited and praying for my trip. CLASSY!
- I was talking to one of my former professors from UD and I told her about the trip and she not only donated money, but offered to meet up to help out because she has backpacking experience. CLASSY!
- Standing at a table after church trying to talk to people about the World Race and one of the ladies that I sent a letter to months ago walks up to me with a money order that she got the week after receiving the letter and had bringing to church every week until I came back so that she could give it to me in person. Her financial support pushed me over the $1000 mark and renewed my faith. CLASSY!
Like I said, I have so many more people to highlight, but one thing is for sure, though this race is not for the faint in heart, if you stick it out, you will be blessed beyond measure, I know that I have and I haven't even gone yet. God is a good, good, good God and I feel like Nancy Drew just trying to figure out what He's up to next. I'm not exactly sure what he's going to do in the month of May, but I am so excited because He is crazy and unpredictable and He is blessing my whole life by placing all these classy folk around me.
I'll leave you with a bit of encouragment from my devotional, "Lord, help me to be willing to follow You in obedience even when I'm not sure where you're heading. Your divine power has given me everything I need for life and godliness through my knowledge of you who called me by your own glory and goodness."
