This week we only had ministry in the morning. That consisted of going to the farm, working in the garden, and helping butcher a Palaguay (goat cross).
There killing of the Palaguay was for a special supper they wanted to make for us. The gardener caught it and hung it upside down. Looks a lot similar to cleaning a deer.
Sundays are so fun with the kids. We get to go to check with them and help in Sunday school. It’s hard not knowing what they are saying but we still make it work. Like Julia had me go on a little walk with her. I didn’t know what she was saying but I didn’t want her to walk down the street alone. We went to a Little store up the road. She got bread and snacks. After church some of us went on some adventures. The first one we found a coconut and broke it open. It was really good. The second adventure we got Megan and Rachel to try and climb down a hill and walk in the water With the waves crashing on them, it was hilarious!
Mickie and Rachel also got baptized!! So excited for them!
Monday, Mickie, Destany, Rachel and I got to work in the garden. That night we got to have a bonfire with the kids. Julia fell asleep in my arms. I’m so going to miss her! We got to have s’mores!
Tuesday and Wednesday I got to go to the farm. We didn’t do much Tuesday but Wednesday they taught a few of us how to sharpen the machetes. That was fun!
Tuesday night we got to celebrate Bailey and Mackenzie’s birthday. They were surprised with pop cake, and a dance party.
Wednesday was Mickie’s birthday. We got to have a movie night with the kids and have more cake and pop.
Friday Helen gave us the day off. We got to get ready for leaving on Sunday as well as help decorate for the party they were through us. The party was so much fun!! Some of us girls dressed up and the kids cleaned up real nice as well as the little girls put on dresses. They did two traditional dances. We played some games and had a pinata. There was lots of jumping and dancing! We even got Freddy, Moses, and Ilario to dance with us. They asked if there was anything that we wanted to do for them. The kids had seen John and I practicing swing dancing, since we were going to teach the squad for team time, so we decided to show them. That was a lot of fun! We lost communication at the end on a few moves and completely butchered the ending sadly, but it was great!! It was so much fun! The energy everyone had I think definitely helped! The kids really enjoyed watching it. They came up after and we’re super pumped and we got to show them some moves. The little girls just loved being spun around! We ended the night dancing with the kids and playing more soccer.
