wow. life here in gainesville is crazy. a lot of my friends and family have been asking what a typical day looks like (which is a great question!) and I’d love to answer it on here πŸ™‚

a normal day for me on the race starts by rolling out of my sleeping bag, climbing out of my tent and brushing my teeth with my water bottle (this morning I accidentally used crystal light instead of regular water) and then heading to an adorable dining patio for my morning devotions! right now, I’m going through the book of John and learning lots about the sufficiency of Christ πŸ™‚

after my alone time, I get to eat breakfast with my team and then we move into another devotional time, led by one of the leaders on our squad. this past week, we’ve studied psalms, prayed through different passages, and learned about the sweet rest in our Father.

morning devotions are followed by over an hour of worship (campus-wide!) and then we move into a time of teaching, where our squad is able to learn from different leaders in the world race community, and from local pastors or teachers.

our afternoons are filled with activity – everything from hand washing our laundry (and attempting to airdry them in georgia humidity) and emptying porta potty trash, to playing spike ball and volleyball with our team. and most days we also get to take a bucket shower! these bucket showers, even with the freezing water and black snake in the ceiling (which we did get out of the shower building after about five minutes of screaming) are the most refreshing part of the humid days πŸ™‚

and lastly, the evenings consist of dinner together, and then spending intentional time together as a team, either by playing games, studying scripture, or reflecting on different things throughout the week.

we usually wrap up our days by singing together or taking walks, and I climb into my tent (dodging spiders on the way) and get zipped up in my sleeping bag, lay my head on my travel pillow for the night πŸ™‚

I share all of this to let you know some of what I do during the day, but also to point out that a typical day here is not a typical day – we don’t have to start each day rushing around with a to do list or running out the door with a place to be, but our agenda is simply to know and love each other, to grow in community, and to know the Lord and make Him known!

that’s not a typical day, and praise the Lord for that πŸ™‚
