I am completely loving Guatemala! The race is even more than I could ever imagine. I came into this race with the only expectation that great things were going to happen, and the Lord has not disappointed. As I come close to the end of my first month I can tell I have already grown with my relationship with God, and grown as a person.
One of the many evangelism activities we do is house visits. Our ministry goes out every Tuesday and goes to certain homes to talk more about the ministry we are doing and how they can get their kids involved. One of the great things we get to do while at these homes is talking about their relationship with the Lord and how we can pray for them.
We came to one lady’s home who has two kids who come to our ministry. She began to tell us the struggles she has on a day to day life. Money is a big problem and her husband is never home because he is always working. She works in the dumps where she is paid to sort through trash to take out the bottles and other recyclable items. It is said that most people who work in the dumps have to look for food there too because they are paid very little.
Then we asked if she had a relationship with Jesus and she said yes, that she knows the Lord well. Then she told us that she has had problems with her eyes which makes it hard to work. So one of the men who were with us, Sammy, had words on his shirt and he asked if she could read them. He was very close and she could not read one word. So immediately we asked if we could pray for her. We all placed our hands on her and began to call on Jesus to heal this woman. After we finished Sammy asked if she could read the words on his shirt and she started crying saying that she could. Sammy then stepped back a little farther and asked again if she could read the words on his shirt but she could only see when he was closer. And we knew that Jesus wanted complete healing, not partial healing, so we asked if we could pray again. We all put our hands on her once more and asked Jesus to completely heal her in His name. When I was praying I asked the Lord to “heal her so that she may read every word clearly on that shirt.” Once we finished she began to cry even more and Sammy backed up all the way to her fence and asked if she could read the words on his shirt and she was able to see every word. Her eyes were completely healed in Jesus name! She was so thankful for what the Lord had done for her. One of my teammates said that God told her that the woman has strong faith and He acknowledges that.
We were able to witness a miracle in Jesus name. I am so pumped to continue walking with Jesus and following Him where ever He asks me to go. The great thing is Jesus gives all of us the same power that He had when He was walking on this earth. Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 10: 7-8 “And proclaim as you go, saying ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.” The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us and to me that is pretty cool. I am completely loving the race and I can’t wait to see even more miracles over the next 8 months.
