One of the main points of the World Race is to set us up for how we will live the rest of our lives. This is not just about these 11 months. It’s about the rest of our lives. One of the mottos that goes along with that is “Ministry is life and life is ministry”. There is no one way to do ministry or one thing to do in order to bring the Kingdom of God. God can work through anything. We just need to be open to what He wants to do.
My squad gets the chance to live that out in a unique way.
In most routes, the squads have a ministry host and a specific ministry they are with every month. But their last month of the race is called ATL (Ask The Lord). This is where they spend time praying and researching and asking the Spirit where they should go and what they should do that month.
So for my squad’s route, we will go back and forth between having a host and following the Spirit’s leading. The months that we will follow the Spirit and not have a ministry host are months with more freedom for us. We have the opportunity to dream up and propose ideas, as teams, to then go and spend that month doing those things we are passionate doing to bring God’s kingdom. But I think the coolest thing will be leaning into the Spirit’s voice and leading as to where we should go.
I’m very expectant for what the Lord will do through my team specifically. During training camp, we had the opportunity to go out and spread the Kingdom of God by following the Holy Spirit’s leading through prayer (evangelism). As we did this, each person on my team was so intentional about listening for the Spirit’s guidance and it was a deep desire of each person to be intentional in that.
For me personally during training camp, I connected with the Spirit on a much deeper level than ever before. Because the Lord helped me open my heart to what He could do through the Spirit, I had some powerful experiences in which I felt deep love from the Spirit, in which I was given clear guidance from the Spirit, and in which I experienced deep protection/comfort in the Spirit.
Because of all of this, the Lord opened my eyes to a way of living life in deep freedom and peace. I have been living in this extremely unexplainable peace lately. A peace that really does pass all understanding. And I know it’s because my heart has been opened to actually living in and with the Spirit in a way I never have before.
I am linking my team’s blogs below. If you are interested in hearing what the Lord is doing through them and hearing their perspective on how the Lord is using our team, please go follow them. We also added a member to our team! His name is Matt Kane and he is our alumni team leader. He just finished his World Race in June. He will be with our team for the first two months and will give us some guidance and help train our next team leader. We love him and are excited that he is our leader!
