Hey Y’all! (Can you tell I’ve lived with a bunch of southerners for 10 months?)

Also, did I just say 10 months?? I sure did. That means we are heading into our FINAL month of this thing. Can you believe it? What a journey it has been.

This month we have been in Vietnam and it has been very adventurous.

Vietnam is a long and beautiful country, and we’ve travelled ALL the way up it. We started in Ho Chi Minh for a few days (South Vietnam), then we spent a week in Danang (middle Vietnam), and now we are towards the end of our week in Hanoi (North Vietnam).

As we have traveled, we have seen a lot of things and marveled at the beauty of God’s creation.

More than that though, this month been a lot of sweet time sitting at the feet of Jesus. It has not been anything that the world would define as grand or spectacular. But it has been personal and intimate.

As I have sat at His feet, He’s reminded me of and shown me a few things that speak to the depths of my soul…

  1. He’s reminded me who God is as a Father
  2. He’s shown me that God has a name, Yahweh, and that God’s name is essential to understanding His character and Jesus’ place in our lives
  3. He’s reminded me that I need to daily cleanse myself of the expectations that the world puts on me and the lies that Satan whispers in my ears.
  4. He’s reminded me that I need to replace those expectations and lies with His truth and love.
  5. He’s shown me that true freedom is in giving up complete control. The Kingdom of God is an upside down kingdom.
  6. He’s shown me that on my own, my continual pursuit of perfection is exhausting and unfulfilling.
  7. He’s reminded me that only in Him am I perfect. And there is nothing I have to do to earn that. I only need to sit at His feet and accept it.
  8. He’s reminded me how good it is to be in community, and how good community is at bringing out our worst parts. However, He’s also reminded me that in good community, there is grace, mercy, and love that flows from Jesus Himself.
  9. He’s reminded me that shame is NOT from Him and that He desires to free me of any and all shame through His sacrifice on the cross.
  10. And Jesus has reminded me that when I sit at His feet, His presence and love fill up my cup and overflow it. Every. Single. Time.

When was the last time you sat at the feet of Jesus? What might He want to show you or remind you of? When was the last time your cup was overflown with His love and mercy? He will never fail to be there if you show up.

**We head to Indonesia next week. My team will be the only one with a host and we will be on a different island than the rest of our squad. We will be working with Wycliff Bible Translators. Please pray for safe travels!
