Hey!

I’m Rachel! Born and raised in New Mexico. I am a super passionate person who is in love with Jesus and adventure.

I’ve had the privilege of growing up in a beautiful home with parents who love Jesus. We have definitely had ups and downs, hitting rock bottom with medical catastrophes and financial distress, however, I was raised in a family where trust in Jesus always came first no matter the scenario. We have been preserved by His grace and what a gift it has been, to be given a family such as this to grow and learn in.

I have one brother who is 19 months older than me and we grew up taking turns playing Polly Pockets and Army. Even though I only have one biological brother, there were a handful of other boys I grew up with (my parent’s friend’s kids) and only one other girl besides myself. That being said, I love off-roading, shooting, riding horses, playing in the mud, taking challenges, and messing around with my brothers. My mom did instill the girly side in me so I do have a thing for fashion, design, make-up, Pinterest, romantic movies (although that love definitely came from my dad as my mom truly hates them), girly decorations, and Disney movies.

I’m more of an artsy person than a sports person….I love sketching, painting, and photography.

I have a sad obsession with Pride and Prejudice and Titanic.

My favorite color changes daily, as do my favorite foods.

I am a book worm.

One of the biggest things about my life, and the reason why I am even writing on this blog, is the fact the Jesus has given me a heart for his people. I was baptized when I was 7 years old on Easter Sunday and 10 years later, I knelt on the concrete floors of the chapel at a Christian camp I had spent almost 15 summers at, and committed my life and my heart to His ministry. After I graduated from high school, I decided the few short-term mission trips I had taken over the last 5-7 years around the US and to Mexico were simply not enough. I spent the summers of 2010, 2011, and 2012 in Ukraine working in summer camps teaching English and purity classes, spending time with village kids and beautiful teenagers from a Special Needs orphanage near the Azov sea, and camping. My passion and desire for missions and serving the people Jesus has died for has only just begun. The spark that the Lord put in my heart as an Elementary school student at that same summer camp, has only just begun to burn a little brighter. But, it has overtaken my life.

I graduate from the University of New Mexico in May and am excited to spend the rest of the year working at the camp here in New Mexico where it all started, and preparing myself for the World Race.

There is so, so much more I feel I could say, but I have the tendency of rambling, and let’s be honest, I would so much rather you get to know me apart from an “about me” blog page.

I am eternally grateful for those of you who have visited this blog, prayed alongside me, and are called to partner with me financially on this incredible journey. My words will NEVER express the love and affection I have in my heart towards all of you.

Because of Him,

Rachel

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners…

~Isaiah 61:1
