<> Matthew 6:25-34 <>

Well guys, I leave for training camp early Monday morning. The camp is in Georgia and I’ll be there for 10 days. WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been a week since I officially committed to the World Race. Once I initially committed, I really doubted whether I could get everything together in time. Most other “racers” have known for months that they were going on the mission trip, and here I am, Miss Procrastination, scrambling to get everything together before Monday. One thing I was worried about was my passport getting here on time, but of course, a smiling UPS worker brought it to my door this morning.

Why did I doubt God’s ability to make everything work out for me in time to go to camp? He’s the one who called me on this mission trip, so won’t He also provide for my needs and make sure everything works out?

Of course. But I’m human, and that part of me still has moments of doubt.

As I’m sitting on the floor of my room last night, staring into the huge mess I made of everything I’m going to take on Monday, I felt overwhelmed. I started organizing everything, trying to make more sense of it all. How am I supposed to fit my life into 2 bags…a 65 L bag on my back and a 10 L bag on my front?

Around 2:00 am, I got distracted (big surprise) and decided to see if my Nook still works (which I won in a raffle drawing a few years ago). I hadn’t turned it on in such a long time since I have been reading hard copies of books recently, but thought I might want to take it on my trip to read lots of books without lots of added weight. When it finally turned on, I clicked on “Reading Now,” which the reader can use like a bookmark to keep track of where they stop reading. The book that opened up was “The Holy Bible” and the verses Matthew 6:25-34.

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Boom. Thank you Jesus, for that reminder. I then proceeded to brush my teeth, hop into bed, and fall right asleep.
