Hi friends!
I’m sorry it has been a while since I updated you all. On Thursday my squad began our 11 month adventure. My team (Steadfast Pursuit) and another team (Forerunners) are living in Santo Domingo for the month. We are working with Iglesia Christiano Bendicion which means “Christian Blessing Church”. Our groups will be doing door-to-door ministry and evangelism, teaching English classes for adults and children, cleaning and preparing the church for services while working with people in the church.
Last night we went to our first service with Iglesia Christiano Bendicion and it was absolutely amazing. The people in the church are the sweetest and so welcoming. I love going to churches in other countries and hearing people worship in other languages. It is a reminder that God is so much bigger than the boxes we sometimes put Him in.
If I am being honest the first couple of days were difficult and it hit me how difficult this whole year will be.
This year will push me entirely out of my comfort zone in so many different ways.
But what I have decided is that following Jesus and serving all of the beautiful people I will meet this year is worth far more than my comfort.
We don’t have wifi where we are staying but I will try to update you all as often as I can.
