After two years of talking about it, nine months of preparing for it, and two weeks of packing for it, it was time for Launch.

Can I just say that I was ready to go? Enough talking! Put me on a plane to Bulgaria.

And then these words come—Route change! Due to the Olympics, travel to Europe was expensive and unavailable, so instead of ending in Central America, we are beginning there.

Route change and we haven’t even left America. Welcome to the World Race.

Travel started Friday at midnight. 39 hours later, I had
*ridden a bus to New York
*taken a 5-hr plane ride to Costa Rica
*Hopped on a bus through Costa Rica to Nicaragua
*Stayed in a very cool hostel
*Jumped back on the bus to arrive in Honduras Saturday afternoon

Lesson one of the World Race—Border crossings are slow and full of scary-looking people. Also, doing wall sits and playing Ninja outside the charter bus attracts attention from the locals.

This month in Honduras will be spent at Zion’s Gate Ministry. The place serves as ten acres of refuge for the children living on the tough streets of Honduras, known as the most violent country in the world. Ten boys and two girls currently live on the property.

The great part is that our squad gets to live together for the first month. So much fun. It has also been fun practicing Spanish with “the boys”, as we have termed the teenagers living on the property.

So far we have been loving on the school children who stop to play in the yard. These kids adore any affection bestowed on them, and we World Racers have a lot of love to give. Ministry will take on several facets this month, which I will delve into later.

Interesting fact:
Honduras is in its rainy season and is fairly chilly compared to the hot, humid weather we left in America.

Hello from Honduras!
