Distractions.  We all have them.  I can recognize and relate because I can get distracted by anything.  Seriously anything, from an explosion to sparkles!  We tend to like to use them as excuses because it's easy (at least I know I can), but let's just call it like it is, we allow distractions to be distractions.  Sometimes because we think we need them, and sometimes because we're just not as focused as we may think we are!  Humans are a funny thing.  Suffice it to say, lately I have been distracted.
I have been distracted by things going on around me, lies from the enemy, even my own wants and needs.  Well, this morning I felt back on track, I felt recharged, I felt strong and empowered and happy.  Scratch that.  I FEEL all those things, and God decided to give me a little treat.
I was meeting one of my besties, Sarah for a little breakfast at Starbucks.  My beautiful friend was running a little behind, but in her defense, I am normally the one who is, so she just factored that into to her morning routine.  All things on my time, God says.  For the first time I was on time, had the opportunity to be early even! So rather than take a little extra time to do some more zhushing, I decided to be early!  I got there, had a brief morning convo with my Schmadd (my Dad), and then I found a little open table and decided I would use this little gift of time to be productive and oriented.  I whipped out my journal and finished writing a very dear to me thank you.
A little background on why this note is so dear!  I am a server at a pretty nice restaurant, but a server none the less.  Lately God has been encouraging me to be bold.  "Don't hide who you are Rach, you're mine and that's an awesome beautiful thing!  I'm glad that you're proud of Me and I will reward that."  He's pretty dang faithful.  So I stopped hiding who I am at work.  I mean people knew I was a Christian but now I don't hold back.  Ever since I have, God has blessed me every night I work.  As World Racers we can expect to be provided for by God in some crazy awesome ways!  This in my book, is crazy awesome.
One of my tables a few weeks ago was this beautiful young couple who when I first greeted them thought, "oh good, it's busy and I could use a fun easy going table!"  We soon found out about each other that we were fellow believers!  We got to talking about God and about where I was going in life and I told them about the race.  They were such an encouragement, my little blessings God has been faithfully inserting into every night I work!  They touched me so much I wrote them down in my server book, the Rumpels.  Little did I know God used me to encourage them in return.   They returned a few nights later and left a beautiful heartfelt note and what I call a "love gift."  I didn't get their note until I week after I met them.  I saw an envelope with my name on it hanging on the server memo board.  I opened it and had a big cry.  This couple that had just met me heard my story and spent a small amount of time with me had just told me what an encouragement I was to them and how they wanted to use God's money to support me.  They gave me such a generous gift and signed the note, "in His grip, the Rumpels."  Talk about feeling loved by God through others.
So as I was writing this note, I was asking God to give me the words that would truly convey how grateful I really am, little did I know how impeccably He had this timed.  Sarah arrived while I was writing and got her coffee, not even seeing me hiding in the back of Starbucks.  She sat down and I went up to the front to finally get my fuel for the day and that's when a woman stopped and said she remembered having me as a server.  I knew her face but I couldn't place the name.  She walked out and that's when the Holy Spirit said leave your order and your change and find her.  So I did!  I ran out after her, and waved right as she was getting into her car, and then I saw it.  A little sign in the front window diplaying her last name, RUMPEL.  Shut up God you are awesome!!!  I ran to her immediately and hugged her.  He just gave me the opportunity to truly let them know how much they mean to me, beyond the thank you I was writing them!  I was overwhelmed.  Nobody has better timing than God.
