'Sup Peeps?!

So you're here because you want to learn a few things about lil' ol' me.  I'm so glad you stopped by! Let's start with the basics, then we can get a little more personal!

My name is Rachel, but most of my friends call me Rach or Wheels!
*I am on year 23 of life and am convinced it's going to blow 22 out of the water!
*I am a World Racer! (Shut the front door, I still get chills saying that!!!)
*I love Jesus!  I believe that God created us in His image and gave us hearts that  wont rest until we rest in Him!
*I think the Holy Spirit is a boss.  I also think He can be extremely persistent…
*I am all about letting your freak flag fly.  The more quirks you have the better, I am so pro-awesome/weirdness and anti-normal.  Because when you think about it, there is nothing "normal" about our faith, it's totally awesome!
*I am from Wisco!  For those of you behind the times that's sweet sweet slang for the great state of Wisconsin!  I am from a town called Oconomowoc.  (*Please remind me to tell you the joke about how our town was named!)
    Common Misconceptions about Wisco:
     – People live on a diet that consists only of cheese.  False.  (Though we make some of the best!)
     – People are constantly decked out in Packer paraphernalia.  False.  (Though we do LOVE our
       Packer Football!)
     – There are only cows for scenery.  False.  (There are trees and lakes too!)
     – We are unaware there is a legal drinking age.  False.  So totally false.
     – The weather only knows how to snow.  False.  (It's currently 100 F right now.)
     – Last but not least… We all have those horrid accents! FALSE.  (A lot of wisco peeps do, but
       definitely not ALL of us!)
*I love OWLS!  They are my absolute favorite thing!

*I am one of the loudest people you will ever meet.  From my whisper to my laugh, I have some pipes.
*I love food!  I eat a burger a day, and love chocolate, but beyond that I have such a healthy love and respect for food!  I work at a 5-star restaurant so I have been majorly blessed and have expanded my palate more than I ever dreamed!  It works out perfectly too since I come from a family that spends 75 % of their time congregating in the kitchen!
*I am super duper creative and basically live for art!  I love it all.  I paint, sew, sculpt, draw, design, write stories, write poetry, sing, dance, take pictures, if it has to do with art, I'm on it!
*I am so random.  So, yeah….
*I like to celebrate what are called "Rachidays."  These are holidays I've made up, like "Make-up free Mondays" or "Champagne Thursdays!"
*I am easily entertained and easy to please.  The simplest of things have the ability to bring me great joy!  Whether it be getting to hear an owl right before I fall asleep or someone buying me a cup of joe!
*I love Ugg boots.  I don't care.
*I am a complete mutt of ethnicity.  I am German, English, Irish, Swiss, Italian, Scottish, Welsch, Blackfoot Cherokee Indian, Powhatan Indian, and French.  Yikes!  Even though the Italian part is one of the smallest percentages, everyone knows my Mom is the best cook around, and our kitchen is the most used room in the house.  If you show up here randomly you will get fed.
*I am an all organic food freak.
*I have a giant cat or should I say small dog, named Moose who I will miss very very much.  I do mean giant he weighs in at about 15 lbs and he is still a 7 month old kitten.

*I am addicted to Starbucks.  You know it's bad when the barista's see your car pull up and by time you get inside they already have your drink made!  Pure love.
*I have a new found love and appreciation for mustaches.  Don't ask me why but I cannot stop drawing them…  I also believe each mustache deserves it's own voice.

*I am a very extroverted and gregarious person.  I am all about people!
*I'm a Mac person.
*I probably wouldn't survive without music.  I think that there is a song applicable for anything in our lives!
*I am a girly-girl and a tom-boy all at once.  nbd.
*I am a super free-spirit.  A free'n'easy blissful bohemian.

*I am a firm believer that what you wear says a lot about you before you even open your mouth.  Needless to say I love fashion and most often make sure my appearance matches my attitude.

So a little about my roots!  I come from a small family, and am an only child.  Do with that what you will. But because I was the only kid in the house my parents really fostered their ministry for youth.  Constantly taking in my friends as their own, I'd come home for school and see my friends from public school sitting in my kitchen because they needed to talk to my mom or just be around my Dad.  I'll break it down individually.

Tami Roskilly.  In a word, irreplaceable.  My mom is the older, bigger, better at cooking version of me.  She is such a huge influence in my life and a big reason I am the person I am today.  She is so loving and inviting and has the most giving heart.  She has absolutely no problem forcing you to eat something or telling you exactly what she thinks about a situation, and for that I love her!  We are super close and honestly spend almost every day cracking each other up!  We can have the best time doing anything!  She is an amazing Mother, a great friend and a light for Christ!

Glenn Roskilly.  Talk about Daddy's little girl.  I stinkin' love my Dad, or who I sometimes call Schmadd.  He is a quiet gentle spirit.  He has a peace about him that many people recognize and want to be around because it helps calm and comfort theirs.  My Dad is a brilliant man and a man of few words.  Most of the time when he speaks it's got serious weight.  He is so smart though that sometimes his jokes are ridiculously off base and you just laugh because clearly the effort was there.  My Dad has seen a lot, heard a lot, and suffered a lot, but none of it has taken away from his unwavering faith and love for our Lord!

The Nonna.  Oh wow. This is a big one.  The Nonna, as my friends so lovingly named her in high school, is so ridiculously important to me I don't know where to begin.  She received that qualifier in front of her name because my friends believed she was far to epic a lady not to have one.  Hence, The Nonna.  They also wanted to institute a " Rent-The-Nonna" program where she could be their Grandmother at certain special events, but that never really took off…  My Nonna is one of my best friends.  I go to her first with almost everything.  We have almost identical souls and get along like two peas in a pod.  I honestly don't think anyone understands me more, or makes me laugh as much.  She is unbelievably beautiful, effortlessly encouraging, and super supportive.  She also has no problem speaking her mind, and it is a guarantee that if the Nonna is coming over so is a ton of delicious food!  She is my rock, I love her.

This is my base.  These are my roots.  My branches are currently spreading and I am so excited to see how big I grow from The World Race!
